Carol Lee Two Vomen Die After Truck Wreck ILWACO, Wash, Aug. 13 VP)' Two Grays Harbor women who had gone "Just for the ride" were burned to death late yesterday when a fish truck left the road at the Naselle junction northeast of here, crashed Into a culvert and burned. ' The victims were Mrs. Norma Borland, about 24. of Westport, and Betty Brown. J3, of Aberdeen. Deputy Sheriff Peter Maloney said both women were burned beyond recognition as the flames, fed by 16.000 pounds of oil-rich tuna, swept through the truck. Identity of the victims was not definitely established, he said, until Mrs. Dorland's father. N. P. More head of 1408 Day Ave., Aberdeen, recognized personal belongings and dental work. The driver of the truck. Earl Tor bet, 35. employed by the South Bay Trucking company of Aberdeen, was thrown clear of the vehicle as It left the, highway, plowed along a shal low ditch for ISO feet and smashed against the culvert. . He was taken to the Ewaco hospi tal where Maloney said, he did not appear to be critically injured, al .. though unable to talk enough to provide details of the accident - The burned bodies of the women were taken to the Perkins funeral home in Raymond. Vesper services were con ducted Sun lay evening around the campflre by the Rev. Victor Phillips of Klamath Falls. Instructions for the week will In clude swimming and life saving, given by Don Johnson; leather craft. Lloyd Seely: meul craft. Helen Stine: record books, Francis Skinner; livestock Judging. Jim Ellngs; tree identification and forest conserva tion. Charles Ross; games. Miss Phylis Sutten: rifle marksmanship. E. A. Mellby; and common courtesies, Joan Howell. Other activities are hiking, horse back riding, archery, soft ball, volley ball, badminton, darts and horse shoe pitching. Regular campflre programs are features every night and several movies during the week. The 84 girls who attended camp last week concluded a busy week Saturday afternoon. Sheila Oillen won high honors for ride marks manship. Adele Brown and Frances McMlllen were runners up.
