Lake Meters Face Battle LAKKVIEW, Aug. t Petitions seeking a referendum election on a parking meter ordinance adopt ed August 1 by the town council aro being circulated here In an ef fort to head off the Installation of meters which Is authorised by the ordinance. The petitions are the result of action by the Luke county cham ber of commerce which earlier asked the council to refer the mat ter lo the voters, with the an nouncement that If the council did not do so, the chamber would cir culate the petitions. She will be named Amanda. Mrs. Smerski Dies At 41 LAKEVIEW, Aug. 9 (At Mrs. Eva Smerski died In Lalcevlew August 6. She was born July 7, 1906 at Hele na, Okla., and died at the age of 41 year and 23 day. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Packard. She la survived by her widower, Andy C. Smerski. whom she mar ried in Golden. Colo.. In 1923; by a son. Johnny and a daughter, June, both of Lakevlew; by four suiters. Rose Thomas of Portland. Armlnta Nelson of Union.
