Former Bly Man Passes Word has been received here of the death of Norman Dyer, 38. fol' lowing a lengthy illness, on Tuesday in Red Bluff, Calif. Be was a real' dent of Bly for eight years before moving to Pascenta, Calif, a year ago. Surviving are his wife, Betty, and three children, Clinton. Diane, and Bonnie Lou, of Pascenta: his par' ents. Mr. and Mrs. John Dyer of Myrtle creek, and three sisters. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hoyt Funeral Home, and services will be held at t p. m., Friday in Red Bluff. Jaycees Plan Outdoor Picnic The business meeting of the Jun ior chamber of commerce Monday night included plans for an out door picnic to be held at Moore park at 8:15 p. m. on July 31. Big Crowd At Feed One of the year's highlights for post No. S of the American Legion is the annual Legion feed, held Tuesday evening at Moore park with a large crowd of delegates and guests on hand. Along with many Klamath Falls people was a large number of visit ors from other sections of South ern Oregon, particularly from Grants Pass and Med ford. Jim Murray of the Klamath post received an award for securing 344 new members during the war. . . General chairman for the affair was Carl Schubert, assisted by Dr. M. E. Cooper. Les Finely, Paul Ot terbein, Tom Young, and Fred Heil bronner. An abundance of food and en tertainment rounded out the eve ning's activities. Longshoreman Dies Aboard Ship LONOVIEW, July 1C WV-Floyd Harris, about 45, a longshoreman who came here recently from Seat tle, collapsed and died while work ing aboard a grain ship at the port of Long-view this morning. Coroner Gordon M. Quamstrom said a heart attack is believed re sponsible. The body was taken to a Kelso funeral home. Thieves Break Into Residence The residence of Mr. and Mrs. Noel Flynn, 1346 Eldorado, was bur glarized yesterday afternoon and a ladies' wrist watch, several small tools and an undetermined amount of change from two small banks was taken. Labor Camps To Close PULLMAN. July : i Labor camps at Walla Walla. Granger and Yakima will be closed by Sept. 39 because of a curtailment of funds for their budget, Paul R. Spechko. assistant state supervisor of the emergency farm labor program, re ported today. He said Mexican national camps at Burlington and Dixie will prob ably close soon after Aug. 1. Spechko said that cuts In labor branch funds also make It extreme ly unlikely that Mexican nationals will be available for fall harvests this year. He said most of the nationals will be available for fall nationals now in the state will be repatriated by Aug. 1. On the brighter side. Spechko re ported a general labor surplus throughout the state at the present time. Because of the return of the Mexican nationals to their homes, i however, he said, it 1U be necessary for growers to lay plans to utilize all available domestic workers this fall.
