Mr. and Mm. Lee Peters, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Peters, Steve Peters. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wilson and children Mr. and Mrs. Layton Hoback and son of Pine Ridge. Crawford Lewis spent the holidays with his family, having come from Dlllard, where he Is employed. The office staff of the Chiloquin station tof the Oregon state high way department was transferred this week. Lowell Johnston and Paul Nelson will be in Portland, and the otheri have been moved to Lakevlew. Nelson was already in Portland, having been transferred there from a Klamath Falls hospital . . - fim Imt ailment. Rice will be employed in a lumber yard until fall when he will enter the University of Oregon to begin work on a master's degree in physical education. On Tuesday evening, July t. Mrs. Rarlev Zeller and Mrs. O. M. Hayes of Williamson river served a public dinner at the Zeller home near the Methodist Indian mission. About 60 people were present. Proceeds went to the Women's Society of Christian service. A regular meeting of the roup was held following; dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Cook are proudly announcing the arrival of their first grandchild. Linda Lee, born on June 30 to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jones of Klamath Falls. Mrs. Cook had been staying with her daughter for several days. The California Oregon Power company has had. a large crew at work locally for the last three weeks. The sub station at Pine ridge, which formerly had served a large section of the surrounding country, has been removed and lines are being con nected with the transformer at Chiloquin mill. Numerous house wives and business men have dis covered how difficult It is to live nowadays when electrical appliances cannot be used, since the company has turned off the power for several hours at a time. The 4th of July holidays saw many risitors in town. Among them were Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Merritt of Long Beach, Calif., Lee Stevenson of Grants Pass, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Warren and children and Mr. and Mrs. Marvyn Clary, all of Prospect, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Grear and Mar garet Lee of Medfonl, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kranenburg: and Mr. and Mrs. George Pohll and son of Klam ath Falls. . Guests of Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Potter were his sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Painter of South San Francisco. They have also spent some time visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Potter, who this week have gone to Portland to take their son, Donald Lyle, to the hospital for further treatment; Dr. and Mrs. Barton Peden, formerly of Chiloquin, were visiting . with Mr. and Mrs. Guy Stelger this I past week-end. The Pedcns are now from Seattle. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cherry and son, Vicky, of Kansas city are in town as gnosis of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Satlley. Mi.ny local residents vlsled out of town during the holidays. A large portion of the people were In Klam ath Falls attending the rodeo and parade. Mr .and Mrs. Harry Whit ing went on to the Lava Beds Na tional monument. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Johnson and younger children spent the days in Susanville, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Markward: and their guests. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Leever of Redwood City were at Davis lake, a& were Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Ktrcher. Mr .and Mrs. O. E. Stone; and Glenn Ktrcher. Returning to Chiloquin on Satur day after several months absence was Mrs. Anna Vestal, mother of Mrs. J. B. Rice. Mrs. Vestal has been in Montana the majority of the time, but vi<ed with a son in Colorado before coming here. Wayne Morland of SpoKane re turned to his home after visiting for several weeks with his aunt and uncle. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Whiting. Lake o the Woods was the 4th of July destination for Mr .and Mrs. John Acomb, Mr. and Mrs. Card and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Mangum, and two nephews of the Gards. Lloyd and Bill Wright of Los Angeles. Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hall and chil dren, and Mrs. Robert Hall spent the 4th fishing at Long creek. Mr. and Mrs. Forest Fried spent a three-day vacation at McCredie springs on the Willamette highway last week. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Warren for two days this week were Mr. and Mrs. Bert Karst of Aber deen, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Zeller and daughter. Colleen, of Coos Bay spent several days last week with the Rev. and Mrs. Harley Zeller. The brothers and their wives traveled as far as Crater and Diamond lakes together on Thursday, and eaah couple re turned home. Miss Zeller in the meantime, traveled south' to Auburn, Calif. W. A. Mohler. who has been visit ing here from St. Louis, and his host. Dick McKell, left Thursday for a trip around Western Oregon search ing for a location for Mohler, who intends to move west soon. Jess M. Jones, supervisor of the Spring Creek State park, and his wife have moved to Chiloquin. as a residence on the park site will be unavailable for at least a year. Jones' duties at the park will begin immediately. Bill Zeller and Walter Eggsman celebrated their 20th birthdays, the former on July 6, the other on July 8. at a party in their honor given at the Rev. Harley Zeller home by Bill's parents and the senior Eggs mans. Between 40 and 45 people were there for the 7 o'clock supper which was followed by an evening of games. Bill Morande and a guest from Portland were 4th of July visitors at the home of Morande's daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Claire Taylor. Guests of E. H. "Polly" Ros- borough this week have been his parents and a brother from Alberta. Canada. Ray Severson of Oakland. Ore- spent several days this week visiting friends in Chiloquin. Dick West, who moved to Wil liamson river last year from Mo desto. Calif., passed away in a Cali fornia veterans hosDital early Wed nesday, July 9, after an extended illness. He had reported to the hospital earlier this year but had been allowed to return home, and had re-entered Tuesday. Locally j he is survived by his wife, Ruth, and I a son, Rlehard.
