Y June 23 (fPv They revived the Poughkeepsle regatta Saturday and navy's rugged oarsmen outdistanced the record field but Uus postwar renewal of the rowing classic will go down In history as the race that few persons witnessed from beginning to end. Although the six-year absence of the Intercollegiate Rowing associa tion's No. 1 attraction cost It none of its glamor for the boys who pull the oars, the 45th edition of the regatta failed to recapture the spec tator Interest it commanded before the w ar. Whether the regatta will recover its spectator interest ill future years, or whether Saturday's condition is indicative of things to come in the sports world generally, only time will tell. The fans who turned up saw Coach Buck Walsh's big navy crew come from behind in the three-mile var sity grind to win by less than half a length over Cornell.
