County Budget
Hearing Quiet
Only small business from a few
county oil leers was coming before
the county budget committee at the
courthouse Uxluy during a public
hearing on the proposed 1147-48
budget, and John Heber, county
commissioner, said that there prob
ably would be a few minor changes
In the published budget.
This morning the Juvenile office,
lax office, library board and coun
ty treasurer were In to see the com
mittee, all of them asking for a
little more operating money. Rcber
said that there was very little more
money that could be given and still
hold the budget within tnc e per
cent statutory limitation.
The budget committee can make
some adjustments In the budget be
fore it goes into effect July 1.

Migrant Workers
Without Jobs
HILISBORO, June 20 (P. Hun
dreds of migrant workers, who had
expected to work In the strawberry
and cherry harvest, are Jobless In
Washington county. Roy L. David
son, farm labor assistant, said today.
The heavy June rains brought
an abrupt end. The blackcap and
hay crops, which eventually can
employ most of the migrants, are
awaiting clear, dry weatner.

Thursday while working In the farm

by clamps In a header and was
rushed to Tulelake where he was
given first aid and later brought
to Hillside hospital where he was
admitted at 8:30 p. m.

New Headquarters

YMCA officer, now established In
the old Teen-Age club, had been
temporarily located at Balslger's.
