First Aid A first aid station will be iterated all Sunday afternoon by the Sea Scouts under the supervision of Oeorge Flitcraft. Members of the Klamath County Eagles Slate Friday Parade A Dre-convention exhibition of the FOE drill team and the Eagles auxiliary drum corps will be staged Friday, at 8 p. m. when the two groups will parade down Main street. The parade, which will start at the courthouse and con tinue to the armory, will precede a dance at the armory sponsored by the Eagles. The drum and bugle corps, the men's drill team, and the ladies' drum corps will perform during intermission at the dance. The Eagles will send these groups to the state convention, to be held ; in Salem June 26. 27, and 28, , where they will enter ritualistic i and dram corps competition. The men's bugle and drum corps are ; present state champions. Junior chamber of commerce, spon sors of the regatta, will be on hand at the lake Sunday wearing white shirts and regatta bow ties to assist visitors. Sunday's races will be judged by the Oregon Outboard association. Admission buttons are on sale for the regatta at the chamber of com merce and through members of the Jaycee and will also be sold at the boat show Friday and Saturday. Camp Fire News KF Planes Stand Out In Model Craft Competition Camp Gets Improvement Camp Esther Applegate Is being made ready for the groups of Qtrl Scouts and Camp Fire Girls who will spend several weeks on the shores of Lake o' the Woods this summer. Committee members of the Girl Scouts and Camp Fire Girls trav eled to the lake Sunday, June 15. and spent the day making repairs and preparing the camp for use. A complete new refrigeration plant has been Installed and new tent platforms were built. Other sanitary Improvements were also made. The group was headed by Don Kenyon and Larry Marks. From reports on present activities, it is expected that the number of enthusiastic campers returning from two weeks " 'neath the tent and pine" will oe many. Four days, June 10-13. of summer workshop classes at Camp Namanu on the Sandy river In Portland, further prepared Mrs. Austin Mc Mahon and Mrs. French for their camp program. In craft classes lasting late into the evening, the two. already well trained, gained many new ideas on leadership, pro gram planning, and organization and returned with very interesting reports. One hundred fifty leaders from Montana. Idaho, Washington and Oregon attended these train ing courses. At the Joint Camp Fire-Oirl Scout leaders meeting Wednesday, June 18. In the Presbvterlan church Mrs. French and Mrs. McMahon will present their Camp Namanu reports. This is the last meeting until September, therefore all Camp Fire leaders are reminded and urged to attend. As a last activity of the school year, the Hl-To-Oi group opened J the Camp Fire house Friday. May 30. to give a wiener roast for Oirl Scout troop 19. The group joined in game and dancing. The Lady Slipper group of the Blue Birds ended the school year's activities with a party held at the home of their leader, Mrs. Wesley Klamath Falls model planes took first place in three of the five competitions In a Cms Model Air plane meet, sponsored by the local club on Uie Worden road. Bill Franks' "Borrowed Time" and Howard Rentier's "Hell's An i gel." tied for first in the Class C comrotiea speea event witn a speea of 100MPH. Both planes were flown by Warren Poole. Rny Edwards of Medford took second with 97 MPH on his original-design model. In the class B controlled contest Medford models took first and second place with 59 MPH for Bruce Henselnuin's model and 47.5 MPH for Ed Sim's plane. Dwight Weatherbee of Klnmuth Falls took third place In this event. In the free flight event ino con trol), the class B competition went to Marschall Moon with a time of I two minutes and 27 seconds. Bob McClure took second place with a time of two minutes and 15 seconds and third place went toum Ram ! sey with time, one minute and 38 I seconds. All of these are local men. Length of flying time was Judged In this event. Class C In the free flight went ; to Medford's Ray Edwards with time, one minute. Steve Kessler clocked 55 seconds for second place. Class A contest was won by Mars chall Moon in 55 seconds and Burl Thornton of Medford took second place In this class. A flexible crowd of spectators numbered about 1500 during the five-hour meet when around 35 models were entered in the com petitions. The Medford group suffered a noticeable amount of engine trouble with their models and were com mended on their Rrcoimllhmcnta In spite of handicaps.
