From Lynch Mob By Action

to add t50.000.000 to the bill passed
by the house so as to meet the
navy's full request for ship main
tenance. "The house cut this appropriation
by $50,000,000 from (370.000.000
wlthout reason," Magnuson told a
reporter.
"The congress has set the sire of
the fleet and the navy is expected
to maintain It at that size. It has
long been established that to keep
the fleet in perfect operating condi
tion it will need a ceiling of 90,000
civilian mechanics.
