kitchen and all woodwork painted.

Ernest Robnett. Darvin Robnett,
Lee perry and Johnny Thompson
last week completed the tearing
down of four government houses at
the Tulelake Jap camp and hauling
them home to their respective
ranches, each getting a house. Other
ranchers who have purchased build
ings at Tulelake are Rallelgh Good
man and Howard Wells.
Seventeen of the East Side Youth
club members motored to Bend last
Sunday morning to attend the statf
grange convention there on Monday
and Tuesday. They attended the
youth party on Sunday night and
the youth supper on Monday night.
At the youth supper the clubs or
chestra played several pieces and

tapped danced a couple of numbers.

with hostess Thelma Butler with 12
members and six children present.
Mrs. Fannie Fisher gave a report of
her trip to Pendleton and exhibited

Ore. Clara Cloud reported on her
trip to Joseph, Ore. For the game,
the club reviewed geography. The
hostess began with London and the

Raymond Fisher, accompanied by
his family, attended the state farm
bureau meeting of the president of
each unit throughout the state at
Pendleton, Ore, last week, returning
Sunday.

last "Wednesday evening a special
examination by the board of review
conducted by Hugh Mercer and Dick
Johns of Lakeview, three Scouts.
Kenneth Butler, Eugene Roes and
Harvey McLain. passed their second -class
examination. These Scouts
are now eligible to work on their
first-class badge. Their second-
class certificates will be awarded at
the next court of honor to be held
sometime in June at Lakeview.

Combat Disabled Veterans
Given Chance To Reenlist
Veterans partially disabled as the
result of combat-suffered wounds,
now have until June 30, to reenlist
in the regular army and retain me
grade held at the time of dis
charge. This announcement was
made today by Capt. Eduardo
Muxo. in charge oi me local army
recruiting station.
This war department extension
applies to all former officers and
enlisted men who make applica
tion for a three-year enlistment
on or before June 30, the captain
explained, regardless of the length
of time since their release from
the army. Former enlisted person
nel who apply after June 30, must
do so within 20 days from the date
of their discharge In order to re
tain their rank.
Former warrant officers or flight
officers, partially disabled in com
bat, Muxo said, will also be eligible
to reenter the army on a three
year enlistment as a first or mas
ter sergeant until June 30. After
that date. aoDlicatlons must be
made within 20 days from the last
day of their terminal leave.
Captain Muxo emphasized that
numerous technical positions In the
peacetime regular army can be
filled by competent veterans even
though they were partially disabled
In combat. With this in mind, the
war ' department has granted an
extension to these qualified men.
Such positions as radio and tele
type operators, clerks, typists and
technicians for the repair and
maintenance of equipment In many
branches of service, fall In this
category, the captain said. -
