Organizing Regent Honored ByDAR Mrs. Robert JC. Wattenburg, organising recent of Eulalona chapter, Daughter! of the American Revolution, and chapter regent during the flint (our yeara of the chapter's life, was honored at the 3SUi birthday anniversary of the chapter held Monday evening. June 2. in the parlors of the First Presbyterian church. Mrs. Burge Mason Sr., charter member, presented a corsage to Mrs. Wattenburg, In behalf of the chapter, and told of the appreciation of the organisation tor the years of tactful, patient und persevering service which Mrs. Wattenburg has given to tills group, especially during Its formative years, and dubbed her "Mother of Eulalona." Mrs. Wattenburg responded, ex- pressing her pleasure In the long vears of association with the mem ber and her pride in the many worthwhile accomplishments this ffrnnn hu brousht to Klamath county, especially in the work of marking historic spots, and In h.lnlno Mi neonle of the Klamath basin to become Interested In their family histories. Charter members present besides Mrs. Wattenburg and Mrs. Mason were Mrs. Sydney Evans, Mrs. Roland E. Wright, Mrs. Allan Sloan and Mrs. Wilbur A. Jones. Mrs. D. V. Kuvkendall and Mrs. J. a. Swan are charter members but were un' able to be present. Mrs. Robert Odell acted as toast' mistress and called upon each past regent to tell something ol the high lights of her year as regent of Rnlalnni. Balsiger who died recently, and also read fitting selections honoring the past regents who have died during the past twenty-five years. These were. Mrs. Thomas Hampton, and Mrs. Harry Ackley. Wright, chapter re gent, presided during the short business session. Mrs. C. E. Mc Clellan, chapter chairman of girl homemakers, presented her report showing the following awards, in scribed pins from the National So ciety DAR: Gilchrist, Jo Ann Conk lln: Malln. Joan DeMerritt: Fair haven, Barbara Roberts; Altamont Junior high, Catharine GUdden; Chlloquin, Joan Loosley: Fremont Junior high, Cleo Cad well; Klamath Union high school, Betty GUdden. Mrs. Wright presented the award at the Fair haven graduation, Mrs. Mitchelmore at the Altamont Jun ior high, Eva Burkhalter at Klam ath Union high school and Mrs. W. J, Owsley at Fremont Junior high. Mrs. Owsley, with ritualistic serv ices, installed the officers who have been elected to serve the chapter during the ensuing year; Mrs. Mitchelmore, regent: Miss Burk halter, vice-regent; Mrs. Harry C. Dlckerson, secretary; Mrs. Lewis Hornby, treasurer; Mrs. W. D. Foster, registrar; Mrs. William Owsley, historian; Mrs. Wright, chaplain. A reception followed. The table was centered with a bowl of roses flanked by silver candelabra. A birthday cake bearing the inscrip tion, "1922-1947 Eulalona" and car rying 25 candles, was cut by Mrs. Wattenburg, while Mrs. Evans pour ed coffee. In charge of this feature of the evening's program were Mrs. Dinner Party Mrs. Mina Hall entertained for the pleasure of Irene Ough, bride-elect of Peter J. Stager of Seattle, at a dinner party In the Pelican party room on Wednesday, May 28. Mrs. Ough, accompanied by Mrs. Hall, left on Thursday by plane for Seattle. Mrs. Hall was married to Mr. stager in that city on June 4 and will reside there. The party room was attractive with bouquets of Iris. Tables were decorated with arrangements of delicate pink roses and other spring blooms. Mrs. Ough was presented with a gift from her assembled friends. Others present were Mrs. Richard Currin. Donation Members of the Past Noble Grand club of Prosperity Rebekah lodge i met In the IOOF hall Tuesday, June j 3, for a potluck luncheon and busi- ness meeting. During the business! session it was announced that the ' club would prepare another donation j lor the IOOF home, uus time oi bath towels and wash cloths, and members were urged to bring their contributions as early as possioie. Graduation Mr. and Mrs. Montry B. Jones of Klamath Falls plan to leave Monday for Bellingham, Wash., to attend the graduation of their son, Monty B. Jones, at Western Wash ington college of education. They will arrive In time to attend the faculty reception on Thursday. Com mencement will be on Friday. Join ing them in Bellingham will be their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Nye, and another daughter. Eunice Jones, all of Kla math Falls. They will return with Monty next week-end. Double Rites On Sunday morning, June I, an event of Interest will be the double wedding of Euphama Swltzler to Carroll Mistier, and Ella Jones to Luther Slaughter. Vows Exchanged On Sunday Afternoon In a simple ceremony at the First Baptist church on Bunday after noon. June 1, Verna Dean Meggs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Meggs of this city, became the bride of Claude J. Long, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Long of Medford. The single ring ceremony was read by the Rev. Cecil C. Brown before a svtling of pink and white snapdragons and palms. Wedding music was played by Lenore McMillan, and Oordon Robinson sang Because" immediately preceding the- nuptials. Soon after. Mr. and Mrs. Long left for a week's wedding trip, and upon their return will make their home in Klamath Falls. It was decided to hold only one meeting each month during the summer, and plana were made for a nlcnlc to be held sometime In July, the date to be announced later.
