Wllh Memorial IHy falling on Friday, many Klamath folks are packing up for a three-day vacation to mountains, lakes, Portland or San Francisco for a holiday long anticipated. Diamond lake to the north. Lake o' the Woods and the many smaller lakes which promise good fishing, will see hundreds of holiday seekers on their banks. Many have held off opening their summer cabins until this week-end. Dr. and Mrs. Albert O. Roenicke and three children left Friday morning for Redding where tljcy will meet Mr. and Mrs. Ray Pickering and young son and continue on from there to the Pickering summer home at Clear lake. The Roenlckes plan to return late this week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Thompson and children. Sue and Bobbie, will have as their guests at Uie cabin, at Lake o' the Woods, Dr. and Mm. Theodore Torgerson of Madison, Wis. Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Torgerson are sisters. The Torgersons are on a five-week motor trip which brought them west by way of the Grand canyon, Los Angeles and Klamath Falls. From here they will go to Victoria, Lake Louise and Banff on their way home. Dr. Torgerson is professor of education nnd director of the psycho-educational clinic at the University of Wis consin and has a new book Jusl, off the press "Studying Children." Recently published as well was 'Diagnosis and Treatment of Pupil Adjustment." As for Mrs. Torgerson, she's a certified Culbertson bridge teacher at Uie University of Wisconsin! They will spend 10 days here. Returning home from a long trip by air and train. Dr. and Mrs. T. F. Farley and Lynne and "Sherry," are telling friends about their InteresUng Journey. They went by train from Klamath Falls to New Orleans and flew to Claremont, Florida, where they were guests of Dr. Farley's sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Hunt. They continued by plane to Cincinnati where they visited old friends made during service yearn, and from there went to Holden. West Virginia, to be with Dr. Farley's mother, Mrs. W. F. Farley. The trip home from West Virginia was also made by plane. Among the students spending Memorial Day week-end at home is Joan Campbell, student at Uie University of Oregon and member of Chi Omega. She arrived Wednesday night. Mr. and Mrs.' Neal Stewart and children are spending Uie three-day holiday at their cabin at Lake o' Uie Woods. Home for Uie week-end is Bill Perrln, son of the Howard R. Perrins of Pacific Terrace. Bill's houseguest is Ward Schuley. Both are first year students at the University of Oregon at Eugene and were class mates prior to college days at the Oable Country Day school in Port land. They arrived Thursday night and are going back Sunday. Dr. and Mrs. George H Mcrrynian opened their cabin at Lake o' the Woods this past week-end and planned to go to the lake over Uie Memorial Day holidays with their guests, Dr. and Mrs. John D. Merry man and Susan, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jones of Sprague, Washing ton, visiting here with Uie John Merrymans. Dr. and Mrs. Samuel D. Earhart of 911 Eldorado, with son Dean and daughter June now In SeatUe at the University of Washington packed up this week and left Friday morning en route to Atlantic City where Dr. Enrhart will attend tne American Medical association con vention and Mrs. Earhart will be a delegate representing the Oregon State Medical Society auxiliary. The three will drive, and June leaves Seattle by plane on June 12 and joins her parents in Philadelphia. Mrs. Elisabeth E. Pierce of Los Angeles, Dr. Earhart's sister, arrived Thursday night and made Uie trip with the family. Before coming home Uie Earharts will visit In New York and the doctor will take time out to get in some post graduate work at Uie University of Pennsyl vanla. It's a six-week or two-month trip for the Earharts, who expect to return here In early August En route home they'll stop off In Georgia and Tennessee. A trip which" will start this week-end but will carry on for several months to come starts Saturday, today, when Ann Avery leaves Port land with her cousin, Mnthllde Arneson of that city, for a lengthy stay in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Ann Avery is a former Klamath resident and was active in civic affairs during her residence of several years. Right now she Is private secretary to Judge Claude McColloch. The two women took the Streamliner to New York and will sail June 6 on the famous Orlpsholm which played such an important part during war years In bringing home Jap-held prisoners. They will land at OoUicnbuig on June 15, and go on from there to Oslo and Larvik, Stavanger and Bergen and then to Hardanger fjord. They will make a visit to Denmark before coming back. Length of their stay Is Indefinite. It may be three months or five, depending on passage availability. Everyone wishes Ann a marvelous trip. The young Gerbers will enjoy horseback riding this three-day noli. day when Marilyn and Margaret, the twins, and Sylvia go with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gerber, to Uie Gerber ranch In the Horsefly district out at Bly. They left Friday morning and will return Sunday evening. Mrs. Dick Rceder and little Andrea, left Thursday morning for Uieir cauin at Lane o' the woods to spend the week-end and Dick and the boys,-David and Stephen, Joined them that afternoon at the close of Riverside school classes. The Recders are having their cabin remodeled extensively for the summer. . Leaving Monday for a tour of the national narks were Mrs. Ida J Gerber, her sister, Mrs. Stella Bowne, and Mrs. Bowne's daughter Stella of Seattle, and Mrs. Emll Plel of Ashland, sister of Mrs. W. O. Smith of this city. The four drove south by way of Reno and planned to stop at Boulder Dam, and from there will go to Phoenix, Ariz., where they win visn, uirs. oownes son, tne waiter Bownes. The four plan to re main at Phoenix for 10 days and from there will visit Grand Canvon Zion national park, Yellowstone, and complete their tour in Seattle. There uiey win be guests or Mr. and Mrs. Jack Waymire (Sybil Bowne), and young daughter Sharon, Stella will continue her secretarial work after a month's vacation, and Mrs. Gerber, Mrs. Bowne and Mrs. Plel will return home. The regular meeting of Uie Klam ath Falls Garden club to be held Monday, June 2, in the city library clubrooms will feature a talk on flower arranging by Mrs. O. A. Krause. Members are asked to be there promptly at 2 o'clock. The nominating committee will report on candidates for officers for next year.
