Mahoitey, a Id-yrer-old junior has but one year of art to his credit. He also took an award In the slate American Legion poppy poster con test and plan to major in commer cial art next year. The winning legion poster ha s background ot blue iiirr-linpoaed with star and two link of a chain. One link read "The Veterans," the olher. "The People." At 111 top of lite )Kter are lite words, "The Link To Security," and at th bottom, Buy A Poppy." Although he only received honorable mention in the local content, the state awarded him a fust place for the same poster which has now been entered In na tional comiietltlon. Two of his pictures were al first re jected by tiie Carnegie Institute na tional art contest because they were so perfectly executed Uiey were taken for copies, and have been la ter accepted with affidavit from the school vouching for their originality. Not only bird but seasonal scenes, treea, still life, and Imaginative ex cursions are done by Baker in the same masterful way in a many dif ferent medium. Student in the lower grades commended for excellent work arc Beverly Kella of tile seventh grade, whose dog pictures in oil compare with the best. Bob Bosworth, eighth grade, Don Harvey, fifth and Belly Kennen, sixth. Party favor, cut-ouls. silhouettes, flower designs III brilliant colors, work from the woodcraft shops, ali combine to make an Interesting look Into the creative talent of Klamath Pall youngster.
