Deiwert luncheon will be aerved at 1 o'clock, to be followed Imme diately by Uie devotional services, arranged especially in memory of the late Mrs. Louis Benson, whose activities In the council were so effec tive. Mrs. Benson was a member of Emmanuel Baptist church and an ardent and cooperative Christian worker in Klamath Fall. The offering to be taken during these services will be given to the relief project which Is dally gaining momentum tnrougnoui uie uni;cu Stales. The Rev. Charles J. Sund strom. pastor of Emmanuel Baptist church, will conduct Uie devotional service. The afternoon program topic is 'Community Activities" and will be conducted In the form of a panel discussion with Samuel H. Smith, city recreation director, and Cecil Kollcnbom, YMCA secretary, speak ing. Discussion will follow with questions regarding Uie Interchurch Athletic association and its purpose In the community and how the YMCA and Uie recreation com mittee with church groups may co operate in order that Klamath Fall may realize a full-rounded recrea tion program, planned for the best Interest of young people. Hazel Morrison, president of the local Council of Church women, will preside and Mrs. Kenneth Lamble. serving as program chair man, will take part in the program. All church women are urged to be present promptly at 1 o'clock. Bridge Party LANGELL VALLEY Hazel Mor rison and Mrs. Theresa Teare gave a lovely bridge party at the parish hall in Langell valley Wednesday afternoon. Three tables were in play, with Mrs. Bessie Ftazler re ceiving high. Mrs. Grace RevelL aecond, and Mrs. Burnett, traveling. Refreshments were served later to Mrs. Bobbiette Gift. Mrs. Betty Pepple. Mrs. Noma Bechdoldt, Mrs. Marv Dearborn. Mrs. Burnett, Mrs. Frazler, Mrs. Madge Monroe. Mrs. Violet Harris, Mrs. Nome Pepple, Mrs. Revell, and Mrs. Cora Leavitt Hostess The Three R club met recently at Uie home of Kathleen Hepburn, with Lucille Heifer as hostess. A de licious luncheon was served to 13 members and tw o guests. Members met Tusday evening with Ella Bortis to make table decora tions for the banquet, and will finish them at Uie next regular meeting, slated for Tuesday evening. May 13. with Kate Hogue. Cards were played with high go ing to Anna McCormack, second to Alice Hoover, and special to Jesta Kaylor. Basket Social LANGELL VALLEY The Laneell Valley grange gave a basket social ' at Uie Community hall Saturday evening. Dancing was enjoyed un til a late hour when baskets were auctioned off by Mike Williams, i master of the Fort Klamath grange. ! A large crowd attended. I Mid-Week SOCIETY Study Class A general meeting of Uie Woman's Society of Christian Service of Uie first Metnodisi cnurcn was neia on Thursday. April 34. opening with Uie study class at 10:30 a. m. Mrs. John Yadon presented Uie final lesson on "Stewardship" and at noon mem bers gathered for a sack lunch. A meeting of Uie executive board and of the prayer circle was followed by Uie business meeUng and pro gram at 2 o'clock. Mrs. L. K. Phelps was program chairman, and the theme for the day was "One Hundred Years of Methodism In China." The meeting opened with singing of Uie hymn. "Stewards of Ood," written by Miriam Smyth of this group. It has been adopted by the Oregon Conference of the Woman's Society of Christian Serv ice as Uie stewardship theme song for the year. During the business meeting a letter was read from Uie president of Uie Philippine islands in recogni tion of Uie work done by Uie group for relief In Uie Islands. Mrs. Lee McBritie led Uie devo tions, and Mrs. Earl Redman and Mrs. Dexter Elliott sang two duets. "Whispering Hope" and "In The Garden." Mrs. James Pinniger told about missionaries of her acquaint ance who work in China, and Mrs. George Casper and Mrs. Victor Phil lips. Uie latter In Chinese costume, told of Chinese mothers and Uie place of women In that country. The meeting closed with a solo by Mrs. Glenn Kent, "In Christ There Is No East or West" and Mary circle then served tea. Mrs. Lee McBride and Mrs. Harry John son presided at Uie tea table which was prettily decorated with tulips and Iris.
