Ptaen TOM WULTWMLIOUm Salute To Gardeners ' By IAKL WIIITLOCK Each year, aa Spring comes Into Its own, the urge to plant things comes to the top In most, men's minds. I think there must be something radi cally and Inher ently cross - pur posed with any individual wnose soul doesn't yearn for the garden along about now. Certainly, aa I see my friends and neighbors poring over their mall, the seed and plant Earl Whitlock and bulb cata logues seem to have their most intense attention. And the gardener, bless him, or her, Is never discouraged. THIS year, those lovely pictures In the catalogue are actually going to ma terialize. Each season, we feel that way. Each season we know disap pointment and the result of our plantings and care fall Infinitely short of the expectation. No mat ter. THIS year it will be different But, In spite of disappointments, our gardeners do manage to bring forth some Incredibly lovely blooms. And the whole community owes a debt to them. Tor one lovely gar den can Immeasurably beautify an entire block and can bring Into a score of lives a delight In color and form which, without tho gar dener's efforts, would be missed. May our gardeners never know discouragement. We should all lose so much without their labors. Next Monday Mr. Whltlonk of the Earl Whttlock Funeral Home will comment on "Tha Month Of May."
