Keno Keno's junior high basketball tea m defeated the Kairhavcn junior high team in a game played at Keno on Friday night, February 21. Tho score was 33 to 18. On Wednesday evening Keno s team played Fremont s B team, the score being 28 to 25. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Smith left this past week for an ex tended trip which may take them to the eastern slules. Joe Orinkwiiler left for Mas sachusetts last week. Mrs. Tom Calmes returned from a visit of several weeks In California a few days ago. Keno s town team played the Dorris town team on the Keno school gym floor Friday eve ning, February 21, the Dorris team winning the game. Keno's team consists of Graham Wilk ins, Don Johnston, Jack Dow, Bob Glasspoolc, Darrcll St. Louis, Alfred Braim, Jack Braun. Dclmer Lepley and George Smith. Mrs. R. N. Diggles of Grass Valley. Calif., visited at the home of her sister, Mrs. Joe 11. Foster, for 10 days In the lat ter part of February. Mrs. Bunch, assisted by Mrs. Guy Moore, gave the fifth and sixth grade music class a Val entine party in the Keno gym nasium. Gaines were played un til about :3l) p. m. when deli cious refreshments were served in the cafeteria. The tables were beautifully decorated for the oc casion and each refreshment tray carried its individual can dle in a candy candle holder. Tall lighted tapers furnished the light for the refreshment tables. Following a song by the Hurlbutt children, Valentines were passed out to everyone present. Sprague River Mr. and Mrs. Harry McAllister spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Mattson and family. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Hoff of Willow Creek, Calif., was in Sprague River on business and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Shadlcy accompanied him home for a short visit. Tho Hobnelt hull which, in the buyer's estimation was by fur the most outstanding unlmiil ex hibited, brought $1100 while tho grand champion went for $HA0. Most of the other bulls went tor from $300 to $000. Charlie Vincent and son Kel ton brought home two pedigreed animals also that uro mighty fine specimens but have a little more unruly dispositions and not quite u.s easy to handle. Others attending the sale were Lee Perry and L, S. Pcderson of Fort Bldwcll. Tho purchasers are proud of tneir new young sires and feel thnt their herds will soon be greatly enhanced by the new blood. The Kobnett $1100 bull was sired in Scotland, thus com ing from tho best of the Scot tish pure-blood heids. The sale was well attended by stockmen from all over Oregon and the principal speaker at the big banquet held on Friday eve ning was president of the Short horn Cattlemen's asuoclatinn from Chicago. He hod attended the main stock shows In St. Louis, Chicago and other points in the past year and he said that tho Shorthorn stock was carry ing away all of the blue ribbons at these big shows. The sale was sponsored by the Shorthorn Cattlemen's association of Ore gon. The Happy Hour club met March 4th with hostess Fannie Fisher and 18 members and S children wero present. There was a well attended farm bureau banquet with bus iness meeting following held at the Grange hall last Tuesday evening. Several from here attended the Boy Scout circus held in Lakeview last Tuesday evening. The youth meeting was held last Tuesday evening in the Modern Woodman hall as the Grange hall was being used by the farm bureau meeting. There were eighteen young people present. Refrcshim nts of sand wiches and salads and cocoa were served after the business meeting, then an hour of singing and dancing took place. The club is having some trouble choosing an appropriate name. By way of suggestion it might be a lot of sport to get up a name contest and the one submitting the most acceptable name by vote would receive a prize. For decorating purposes the colors of green and white were chosen by the group. Carmen Fleming attended a stockmen's association meeting down at Redding lust week. Thursday and Friday. There were about 200 present at the banquet held Friday evening, he said.
