Palestine Not Seen As Jew Solution PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 12 W) J. suing J. Rosenwald, president -t the American Council for -I' Jaism, declared today the rosy pictures painted on Palestine as a solution to the problem of the Jews is a product of "imagi native fanU-sy." Speaking to delegates from 22 states at the council's third an nual conference, Rosenwald called upon members to "insist upon a solution based on the democratic idea that assures to Jews, as to all men, freedom and equality everywhere no more and no less." Rosenwald expressed belief the Zionists would accept a par titioned state if no solution more acceptable proves possible. "I can conceive of nothing more lamentable," he said, "than a petty Jewish state, incapable of substantial help to those Jews who need new homes; capable only of unsettling and troubling the status of the large majority of Jews who will continue ot live as citizens of other countries throughout the world." Dr. Julius Grodinsky, presi dent of the council's Phlladel- Shia chapter, described the nited States as "the spiritual and material bastion of Jewry the world over," and declared the future of Jewry throughout the world is dependent upon the strengthening of democratic forces and ideals in this country. "Because of this leadership and because the investing public has confidence In the system and in the securities which stand back of the bonds Issued by the bank to provide funds to loan to farmers, our cooperative credit program has been a dominating influence in the downward trend of Interest rates paid by farm ers," said Anderson. "Like other cooperatives, the federal land bank system, after paying expenses and creating necessary reserves, returns what is left to the members who have helped make these earnings pos sible. The bank at Spokane which Is owned by the National Farm Loan associations, recently paid a dividend of 6 per cent on Its capital stock. Similar divi dends were paid during the previous two years. With total capital stock of $3,100,000 and surplus and reserves totaling $.10,200,000. the bank Is in the best financial condition in its historv." Anderson told the association members that the land bank sys tem was the first to offer a co operative credit service designed exclusively for agriculture: first ' in lower interest rate3, first in the small annual and semi-annual repayment program, and first In the liberal prepayment plan.. To help perpetuate these coooerative advantages, he urged each and every member to ob tain one new member for their association during 1947.
