Truman Asks Extension Of Second War Powers Act WASHINGTON, Feb. 3 (IP) President Truman today asked congress for "limited" extension ot the second war powers act, including his authority to ration sugar and allocate scarce foods and a handful of materials. Though he named only a few items, he left a big field for White House discretion by seek ing the power to restrict other materials in case of "a national emergency that we do riot now foresee" such as a coal strike. Pleading for "immediate and favorable" action on Capitol Hill, Mr. Truman asked a one year extension beyond March 31 for tliree sections of the act. The major one, title III, carries the sweeping power of priority and allocation and export and import control. . . , Under it, Mr. Truman asked Chicken Pox Leads List Chicken pox led the commu nicable disease report in Klam ath county for the week ending January 25. according to the Oregon Health Bulletin, but pneumonia remained the prime health scourge in the state. There were 26 new chicken pox cases, 5 of pneumonia. 7 scarlet fever, 1 each measules, mumps, syphillis, 2 gonorrhea. Pneumonia showed no appre ciable change throughout the state and the number of cases has now accumulated to 56 per cent over last year's figures for the same period. The 398 chick en pox cases in Oregon reported during the past four weeks bring the disease to well over twice as many cases as shown in last year's similar reports. VAA Sales To Be Published LAKE VIEW, Ore., Feb. 3 The war assets administration will hereafter notify each county assessor throughout the west of all sales and leases of real property that are made in his county by this federal agen cy, according to word received here by the Interstate Associa tion of Public Lands Counties from Senator Guy Cordon of Oregon. This action was taken last week by WAA on request of Senator Cordon, who is coop erating with western county of ficials in their efforts to take advantage of a recent U. S. su preme court ruling that all con tract sales of federal real estate are subject to state and local taxation. Feb. 3 OP) Funeral services for Grace Moore, Amer ican soprano killed in a Copen hagen airplane crash Jan. 26, were held in Paris today. The singer's actor husband, Valentin Parera, and U. S. Am bassador Jefferson Caffery were among the 500 persons wno filled the American Cathedral church at a non-denominational service conducted by Dean Fred erick W. Beekman. The body was placed in a crypt at the church. Parera will take it to tne united states on tha liner America, leaving Feb ruary 15. Flowers from various rrencn music, theatre and society lead ers, as well as relatives ana American friends,' were piled around the casket. The service consisted of choir and organ music and prayers.
