Ski Tow Will Operate At Lake Sunday Al Vincze's ski tow on Knob hill at Crater lake will be in full operation this afternoon and tomorrow for snow and slope enthusiasts, but according to the park's weather report today un less there is a snowfall today or tonight the skiing prospects aren t bright. There is a heavy, icy crust on the snow now, but overcast skies give promise of new snow. The ski tow, a 1000-foot lift will run from 10 a. m. until 4 p. m. tomorrow to take one passenger at a time to the top of the slope. There 'is a movement on foot now to start a ski club among the novices and Sunday skiers around town, with an eye to in struction in the sport and club competition on Crater lake park slopes. A meeting is scheduled for February 6 in the chamber of commerce building to talk over the organization of such a club and ' anyone interested in the sport is invited to sit in on the talk. It is understood that the park service at present frowns upon wide ski competition which would overcrowd the facilities at the park, but some trail races and club competition could be started. Rufus Klawans sees a great future for the Pacific Coast Pro Football league, of which he is president, and is planning an expansion program to include Portland and Spokane in the northwest. This should come as somewhat a relief to those members in the circuit who were prone to think otherwise when one of their top clubs, the San Fran cisco Clippers, put in a surprise bid yesterday at the National Football league meeting for a franchise. The request was promptly tabled with NFL Com missioner Bert Bell declaring that his league will keep its present 10-club membership for "three or four years." "There is no question but that we have our coast league in mind at all times." said Kla wans. "If the Clippers' franchise should ever be accepted by the National league the club would start up a farm team in Oakland to keep coast league football in the bay region. "With the increase in popula tions on the west coast, the fu ture of our league is bright and the trend undoubtedly will be to add more teams Portland and . Spokane and split the league into two divisions. This would aid us in solving a travel ing problem which has been our main stumbling block. "We were especially im pressed by the good showing last season of Salt Lake City, which entered the league for the first time, and the Honolulu War riors. Our league meeting will be in San Francisco February 15 and 16 and any problems will be ironed, out."
