Senate Foreign Relations Committee Asks Marshall For Outline Of His Policy n inu M. MTCHTOWER WASHINGTON, Jan. 22 (VP) Secretary of State George C. Mar shall has been Invited to give the senate foreign relations commit tee a comprehensive outline of his views on American foreign policy. But Chairman Vandcnberg (R Mich.) extended the invitation in such a way, it was learned today, as to emphasize the committee's desire to cooperate fully with the new cabinet officer in the con duct of his work. Jan. 22 JP) Lumber mills in Washing ton, Oregon, California and Ne vada produced 10.522,334,000 board feet of lumber in 1945, the regional office of the depart ment of commerce reported to day. Oregon ranked first in pro duction, Washington second and California third. The 1.247 mills In the Oreeon- Washington area turned out 8.261.542,000 board feet while the 457 mills in the California- Nevada area produced 2,260,- 792.000. The Oregon-Washington pro duction was a little more than two-thirds of the output in the 12 western states. The 1945 production in Alas ka, from 35 mills, was 59,056,- 000 board feet, mostly spruce. Jan. 22 iJP) The Chinese government and the communists belabored each other today with statements charging the other with wrecking China's peace. The government wound up expressing the hope that the communists would "appreciate the government s earnest el forts" and resume peace talks either in Nanking or Yenan, communist capital. The communists, through Spokesman Wang Ping-nan, said nothing doing, unless the govern ment bowed to their previous demand, tore up the new con stitution and gave up territory won since January 1J, i!HB. The government charged the communists obstructed in Man churia, never lived up to agree ments on army reorganization, sabotaged truce field teams and boycotted the recent constitu tional convention.
