Reason for severing football relations with Eugene were not ?;iven, but are suspected to stem rom deep dissatisfaction .with the Axemen football field, a muddy swamp in which the Pels ruined some $800 worth of new uniforms last fall. There was a public clamor at the time of tnat game to quit scneuuuus gene. The tentative schedule for the Pelicans next fall will have the season starting about the middle of September, and for that event a three-pronged gridiron jamboree between the Pels, Lakeview and PrinevUle ia haino nlannad. Each team would Dlav each other team half a game, making turn full names for tne num. The recent switch in state dis tricts puts Klamath in the same district as Prineville and Lake view. Remainder of the proposed schedule is much as it has been in the past. Grant high of Port land will come south for the seventh straight year to be the Pelican opponent in the first big contest on Modoc field. Salem and Ashland are down for the next two home games. We only want to remark that weve often noticed, while driving through the country, that cows seem to graze where the grass grows greenest Maybe they're not as smart as horses, but they do know good grazing. Some of our farm friends have been telling us how they keep their grass greener, and how they increase crop yields generally. They're doing it, they tell us, through CONSERVA TION FARMING. They're testing their soil to see what it requires. They use lime where needed, phosphates and other fertilizers, cover crops, and erosion control practices . , . all of which add up to more and better feed, more and better milk, and richer soil for. future farming. Maybe you need more conservation practices than you're carrying out now. If so, it's to your advantage to see your local Agricultural Conservation Committee for information on how the Agricultural Conservation Program can assist.- Chairman of the local County Agricultural Conservation (AAA) Committee is Burrell Short of Klamath Falls.
