Line Readied
LAKEVIEW, Jan. 13 The al
ternate power transmission lino
from Klamath Fulls to Lakcvlow
via Alturaa will get Into con
struction about March t of this
year, according to A. B. Wilson,
district manager of the Cali
fornia Oregon Power company,
Wilson made this statement at a
meeting of the Luke County
chamber of commerce. Ho ex-
Ellilned that rights of way would
e obtained within the next UO
days, and survey of tho line now
lucked only two or throo miles of
completion.
In pointing out thut this Im
provement will cost approxi
mately $250,000, Wilson sulci that
other work to be done lioro,
notably tho Installation of volt
age regulators to control voltage
variation, would bring tho total
of capital expense contemplated
to about $300,000.
The local power head said that
power will bo obtainable from
either of two route sources when
tho A I turns Hue Is In, calling at
tention to the fact that only once
slnco 1031) has there been si
multaneous power fill hi its on
both the Klumath-Lakovlew and
Klamath-Alturas lines. He voiced
the belief that failures in the fu
ture will thus be cut to a bare
minimum, adding, in response to
a question, that the new line
would be completed in about
three or four months after start
of construction.
