The Parent-Patron club will meet January 21 in the high school with Mrs. Charles Hender son in charge of the discussion, "Music in Our Schools." Dick Stevenson is a pneumonia patient at Hillside hospital. Malin firemen met last week at the home of William Rajnus. Officers elected at the session were Edwin Petrasck, president; Bill Saunders, vice president; and Mervyn Wilde, secretary. Plans were discussed for the 'tfiremen's ball on February 8, With Vaclav Kalina as chairman. Eldon Seymour and Mrs. Lisa Cummings returned from Iowa where they spent the holidays with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Hadley and children spent the week end at Paisley where Hadley attended lodge. Mr. and Mrs. A. Protsman spent New Year's day at Alturas, Calif., with their daughter, Mrs. George Carlisle and family. Mrs. Florence Castddy re turned to her home at Gooding, Ida., after spending the holidays with her son Dunne Cassidy and family at Ivory Pine, Mr, and Mrs, Scoltle Lower are spending some time with rel atives in Idaho. Fort Klamath Mr. and Mrs. Delniar "Busier" Knox have moved back to Fort Klamnth from Salem. He is em ployed in logging by J. W. Fish er. Mr. and Mrs. Earle Thorpe, their son, Blaine and grandson, Jackie, were with relatives at Council, Ida., for the holidays, and report a most enjoyable trip in perfect weauier. The New Year's Eve dance at Chiloquin was well attended by local residents, who enjoyed a fine time. Mrs. Olcna Briscoe returned Saturday from Lakeview, Ore., where she was a guest over the holidays at the home of her son Bif v and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Briscoe and daughters. Mr, and Mrs, Alfred B. Castcl Jr., returned Saturday from Portland, where they spent New Year's with Owlet's grandpar ents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tur ner. They were accompanied on the trip to Portland by Cnstol Sr., who rumniuod with his pur cuts at the Turner home while receiving a medical checkup at the veterans hospital in Port land. Mrs. Joe Taylor 'will leave soon for a two months' trip, dur ing which she will visit relatives at Long Beach, Calif., and at Kaukauna, Wis. New Pine Creek The holiday period was well observed here with the big barn dance given by the Willow Ranch union New Year's Eve, climaxing the general festivities. Around 500 persons took in this event and despite the wet, sticky condition of the floor brouput about by various causes that im peded smooth and uninterrupted dancing everyone had a big time. ' was RnjiShed A LONG TIME it would still haw been difficult to dance due to the crowd, but the place was the typical Now Years drama of hilarity and gaycty, with confetti and noise makers adding xest to the vo ciferous laughter, The East Sldo grange orchestra furnished the music with Kay Williams assist ing on tho saxophone. One thing will be remembered about tho dance that will stand tho union boys In good stead when they get their own hall completed and are giving dances, is that they certainly Know how to put out a good lunch and very rea sonable. Feeding crowd such as the barn dance turn-out was no easy Job. The losing side of the East Side grange membership drive contest did themselves up brown on December 28 when they en tertained the winning side with a big supper, program and dunce. Roy l'arlin, lender of tho losing side, deserves .much credit for the success of the party and wishes to thank all those who cooperated with him so well, lie wishes especially to thank Mrs. Florence Uunliip for her violin numbers and others who took part in tho program, as well as. those serving on the supper committee. A physician was summoned for Evert Rcid last Tuesday morning when he luy seriously ill from a heart attack. Ho re sponded finally but not until after tho doctor had attended him for two hours or longer. On Wednesday he was much better and was able to sit up. Christmas Eve was no ordi nary Christmas Eve for the Al viii Butler family and Mrs. Frankie Williams, for on that evening Mrs. Williams gave her daughter Opal's hand in matri mony to Kelton Butler, In a quiet family wedding at her home. Rev. Eugene Barrows of ficiated. The young couple has remodeled what was formerly the Bill Blurton placo for their comfortable abode, and plan to make their residence here where the bridegroom is learning the store business In his father's store. The Happy Hour club met last Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Gladys Porter with Mrs. Louise Miller as hostess. Mrs. Allen was absent from the meeting as she remained in the bay district where she and her husband spent the holidays. Bill Allen re turned home last Friday. The Home Economics club of the East Side grange met Janu ary 2 and plans were discussed tor the coming year. An Invita tion was extended to all new grange members to Join the club by the new chairman, Mary Millsap. New and old members are urged to be present at the next meeting, January IB, as on that date mimes will be drawn for Secret Pals. Mrs. Thclma Butler will be hostess at the next meeting. At the close of the session, Mrs. Mary Snider, the hostess, served cheese appe tizers, graham cracker roll and coffee. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Fisher and family. Earl Hindlc, Mclvin Anderson, and Mr. and Mrs. ir vin Faris and family, were din ner guests of the Charlie Vin cents on New Year's Day. Miss Helen Sanford returned Saturday morning from Cedar ville, where she had spent a week visiting relatives. The first regular meeting of the new year of the Boy Scout troop was held Wednesday eve ning at the grange hall with Pearl Stewart as leader and Roy Millsap as assistant. Plans were made for the 1947 program and the bovs are looking forward to an interesting and instructive year. Miss Susan Fans returned on Tuesday from Eugene, Oregon, where she visited with friends during the Christmas vacation. While there she visited with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wenelt, who wished to be remembered to their many friends in this vi cinity. Mrs. Frank Alexander left last Sunday for a visit with rela tives and friends in Oakland, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ma whinney of Klamath Falls, moved Into the Jim McGrew property recently. They may be leaving soon however as Ma whlnney failed to get the rail road job he bid on which was the run from Lakeview to Wil low Ranch. He has about three more years In the service. Clyde looks well and from all anpeurances the nnvy has been doing a good job of feeding him. Ho is taking up engineering. Eugeno Smith has purchased a home in Alturas and plans to move thcro soon, Ho has been leasing his father's ranch for the last several years but decided to chango his occupation. R. W. Odle Is now living In Needles, Calif., and is engaged in the carpentering trade. He says that town is a pretty town, with all flowers out in bloom, and is enjoying a building boom. He has been doing qulto a bit' of hunting and fishing on the side also. Poe Valley The Warren Moore family shopped in Kluinuth Falls this week as did the Clarcnco Web ber family. Wo have a lady mall carrier here now as our regular mull carrier has gone on a vacation. The Joe Nork fumlly were callers in Klamath Falls from here Wednesday. Word was received here by relatives of the serious illness of Herbert Storey of Lakeview. He in a son-in-low of Mrs. Mary Brcilhaupt and one-time resident of this valley. Mrs. Breithaupt and Paul went to Lakeview to be with the family, Emil Wells Is helping Breit haupt bale hay. The Kerns Implement man was a caller here from Klamath Falls Tuesday. The Breithaupt families at tended a basketball game at Bcatty Thursday night. Junior Kester was on the sick list this week with a sore throat. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Bark have sold their ranch in this district to Harold Dehlinger and will move to Klamath Falls. The property Is across the road from the Dehlinger ranch. Mr. and Mrs. Orin Recder will leave for Portland on Thurs day where he will enter the clinic for medical treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Norris have returned here to make their home. They were married in October at San Diego. Mrs. Norris, the former Jean Perk, was a navy nurse and recently received her discharge.
