Swinale. 80. for many years a resident of Klam ath Falls and Langell valley, died January 7 at 2 p. m. in the McMinnville General hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Swingle was born May 22. 1866, and came 'o this section as a young boy. He owned a ranch in the valley district ana was weu loved by neighbors and his many friends. Mr. and Mrs. Swingle moved to Yamhill to be near their only daughter, Mrs. George (Oka) Zimmerman, but con tinued to hold their property here. Mrs. Swingle died two years ago. Mr. Swingle became -ill shortly before Christmas and developed pneumonia. In addition to his daughter, Mrs. Zimmerman, sur vivors include three grand-children, Celia, Nona and Gordon Zimmerman, one great-grandchild and other relatives. Final rites will be announced later by the family. ' - Rich Gold Deposits In Idaho Found TWIN FALLS. Idaho. Jan. 8 (Ft Discovery of gold deposits near Salmon, Idaho, which have assayed at $U43.zu per ton was revealed today with announce ment that commercial operations will begin In April. The discovery was reported by H. B. Clark, Twin Falls attor ney, and A. J. Bigley, former restaurant operator who has de voted his time to mining during the past year. The samples were assayed at the Pittsburg, Calif., testing lab oratory, they said. The site of the discovery is near the center of early day gold dredging operations on the Sal mon river. Three more one-act comedies were read at the meeting but no roles were cast The group hopes to have three one-acts to present before Lent and work on a .three-act play to be presented sometime after Easter. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Matthews at the conclusion of the business. The next meet ing will be held at 8 p. m. on Tuesday, January 14, when roles will be assigned and work on the coming productions started. A cordial invitation is extend ed to anyone interested '.a at tend. Besides actors, stage hands, property men and' scenery artists are needed. Teen-Age Canteen Activities Resume Activities at the Teen-Age Can teen at the Klamath Falls armory will be resumed this week fol lowing the holiday vacation. The senior Teen-Age meets Wednesday and Saturday nights and the Junior group, including seventh and eighth graders, on Friday nights.
