Sylvester, 23, Irireville, Ore., serving a jail j term here for malicious destruc-; lion of property by fire, would j be returned home to face the i charges of setting fires in Oregon. The sheriff said that during questioning by insurance investi-1 gators in connection with a fire at nearby Venedocia, Sly vester admitted knowledge of fires at I the Crook county co-operative t warehouse and feed mill and the' Alexander Ynwkcy lumber mill," both rrlnevillc; a filling station at Bend and 15 or 16 other blazes not specifically described. Shaffer said Slyvester waived : extradition but did not indicate when he would start west. j Water Plant Bids Taken TULELAKE. Aug. 7 Bids for the construction of a water treatment plant were accepted Monday niKht bv the Tulelake council and the contract will be awarded with the arjoroval of the California state health de partment. The water treatment plant, to be built at a cost of $15,000, will be composed of filtration, water softening and ariation depart ments. The building will be lo cntcd at the site of the present well. Pete Burwnan also appeared before the council, reauesting a license to operate a plumbing shop. Burgman formerly oper ated a shop in Tulelake before going into WRA work. Legion Post Installs New Commander Dave Hoss was installed as commander of American Le gion post 8, Klamath Falls, at I a a t night's installation cere monies at Moore park. Jack Maris, vice commander of the department of Oregon, officiat ed at the meeting and installed officers. Others elected to posts in the Legion included Don Everitt, first vice commander; Pat Kil by, second vice commander; Tom Young, adjutant and fi nance officer; C'al Ellis, chap lain, and Ted Case, service of ficer. Bonnie Stephens of Ma lin, was installed as commander of the Malin post at this meet ing. Prior to installation cere monies a barbecue was held, with plenty of meat, roasting ears and watermelon for the crowd of approximately 400 persons. Hoss, In taking over his du ties as commander, promised an active year for the Legion, and as his first official move pledg ed active support to the Klam ath Centennial group. U. S. Secret Agents Battle In Mistake FRANKFURT, Germany, Aug. 7 ifl) Two U. S. army secret agents mistook each other for German civilians in Munich last week and fought a gun duel in which one received four bullet wounds. The third army said today the counter-intelligence agent wounded was James Caywood of Henryetta, Okla.
