KUHS Shifts Class Hours A plan to include an activity period in the school day, but still have the full six periods, met with approval from Klam ath Union high school faculty and members of the high school board when it was initially pre sented to the group at a re cent meeting. Wendell Smith, chairman of the committee which devised the plan, and Stanley Woodruff, KUHS prin cipal, presented the program to the group. High school will start next year at 8:30 In thp morning, and will be over at 3:50 p. m. There will be no homeroom period in the morning, with students going straight to first period classes instead. The activity period will be between the second and third periods in the morning under the present setup. Afternoon schedules will be almost the same as last year. The new system will provide the maximum number of minutes for classes, minus interruption, with five minutes cut off periods two, three, five and six, plus the time saved by the early schedule of starting school. This will make classes 50 minutes in length, with a 40-minute activity period. ' "I feel this should be given a trial," said Arnold L. Gralapp, superintendent of schools. Gra lapp further stated that the pro gram had proved very success ful in other high schools. If it works for KUHS. he said, the same plan will be used in Fre mont junior high. The plan is intended mainly to give bus students a chance to participate in school activity. Approximately one-third of all students are bus students, ac cording to Woodruff, and many KUHS clubs are suffering due to the lack of attendance of members who ride the bus. 'THERE'S a weird tale in the news todav. The Rajah of Bhowal (in India) has spent the past 25 years fight ing in the British courts to prove that he is legally ALIVE. This has been his story: He was pronounced dead In 1908. and In accordance with custom his body was placed on a funeral pyre to be cremated, and the pyre was set afire. A down pour came along and drove his mourners to shelter. The rain REVIVED him. and he was res cued by passing beggars, with whom he lived for 12 years while suffering from loss of memory. After his come-back, he spent a quarter of a century trying to prove his Identity (his widow claimed he was dead, and put tio a stiff legal fight to back iter claim.) He finally won In the highest British court, and on Saturday, while waiting for King George to sign the order restor ing his domains, HE DIED. All the thrillers aren't to be found in pulp magazines.
