Boxing Card Shows Class A boxing; card with class and potential fistic thrills sticking out all over it Is lined up for the armory tonight, topped off with the five-round main event between Ursal Snapp and In dian Johnny Peters. A sellout crowd i expected to flock into the local square garden by starting time, 8:30, as Merrill boosters of Snapp have long since reserved one whole section of scats on the lower floor. This Is to be a lightheavy fight and a matching of the hardest hitter to appear locally against the locality's best boxer. Peters is a chunky Indian boy from Eu reka with trouble in either hand, and Snapp is experienced in handling tough opponents and can also hit very hard. Politics Seen In Fish Lack Tod Powell, the San Francisco Chronicle's widely-read wildlife columnist, said in a radio inter view yesterday afternoon that what was wrong with fishing up and down the Pacific coast was "too much politics." Powell's very blunt answer was in reply to an equally blunt question asked him by Matt Fin nigan over KFLW. The writer said that California's fish and game setup was nothing more than a football and was the poorest in the 48 states. Right now the state is getting an ever increasing number of hunters and fishermen, and the wildlife officials had done nothing constructive about pro viding and maintaining the hunt ing and fishing opportunities for them, the newspaperman de clared. Concerning the duck season, which will be set by the U. S. fish and wildlife service, Powell expressed an opinion that the season will be cut sharply thislha been advanced t Thanks year, probably down to 30 ofl?'Yin. Paythe Oregon High 45 days. He said that he had no ad vance information, but the rules would probably be released within the next two weeks. He said that the part of the duck laws which should be changed is the possession limit which is set at two days' bag limit, which invites shooters to exceed the day limit. Powell was passing through Klamath Falls yesterday en route back to San Francisco from the Hart mountain Antelope meet ing. The sun is 93,000,000 miles from the earth. Seals Riding High On 10-Game Streak By The Associated Prats . Tough opposition for the arch rival In series beginning today in the Pacific Coast baseball league may show whether the rough-riding San Francisco Seals, winners of 10 straight games, made their move to pass the Oak land Acorns too soon before the stretch. President Charlie Graham of the Seals, just before his club edged by the Acorns last week for a half-game lead, said, "It is better to remain in second place and let the Oakland team bum itself out. We're staying off the pace." But San Francisco's opponents last week were the San Diego Padres, who all but lay down and played dead. And so the Seals ran up their record of wins to 34 In the last 46 games and couldn't remain in second place for winning. This week the cross -town rivals for third place, Los An geles and Hollywood, will likely make the going rougher for the top two fag chasers.
