SALEM. July 16 OF) The
Salem city council last nlKht
look a first step toward establish
ing city rent control, introducing
a measure to set up a five-man
fair rent committee with a full
time executive secretary.
Council member said they
might enact the bill August S.
The measure wa introduced
under a city charter provision
permitting the city to regulate
and license trades and businesses.
The city had rent control dur
ing the war.
The bill would permit appeals
to municipal court from decisions
of the board.
