' 'H Gun-Carrying Woman Jailed Mrs. Levi Barney, the former Bernlce L o b e r t. 30-year-old Klamath Indian from Chiloquin, is being held In the city jail for currying a concealed weapon af ter she ia aaid to have threat ened to kill her husband, Levi Barney, who is a patient in a local hospital. The woman went to the hos pital Wednesday night and ask ed a nurse if she could see her husband, and the nurse stalled her off by telling her to wait a minute while she looked to see if another man in the ward with Mrs. Barney's husband was in a presentable condition. The nurse told Barney to lock his door, then called the police. When police arrived the nurse waa keeping Mrs. Barney in con versation, and the weapon, a .38 cul. automatic, was sticking out of her dress top. Police took the weapon, hand cuffed Mrs. Barney and took her to the Jail. Officers said that they had been informed that the woman left Chiloquin with the cpress purpose of killing her husband. 'Lost' Mosterpiece Returned To Harvard 20-Day Limit On Army Reenlistment Beginning July 1, a veteran who desires to recnlist and re tain his grade must do so within 20 days from the date of his discharge, according to Maj. J. M. Clayton, local army recruit ing officer. However, trained specialists can still qualify for a grade appropriate to training and experience by reenlisting for three years within three months of the date of discharge. The army recruiting office in the post office building is open from 8 a. m. to 5 p. m. Monday through Saturday. In Philippines SSRt. Cory don M. Blodgett recently re turned to Luzon, the Philippine Islands from a Mindanao island task force. Blodgett entered service September 20. 1944, and holds several campaign ribbons. Blodgctt's wife, the former Lois Phillips resides at 1005 High. Fire Alarm The fire depart ment was called at 7:27 p. m. British Find Jewish Cache JERUSALEM, July 5 lP) The British army announced today that another large cache of mu nitions and "a large quantity of British battle dress" had been uncovered in the Jewish settle ment of Mex'ieq Yagur. British troops have been I searching the settlement, which is located in the Haifa Bay area, since last Saturday, and prev iously had reported unearthing large quantities of contraband munitions in an elaborate under ground storage depot. The latest cache at Yagur was found in a bull's stall and con tained portable radio transmitter and 687 German mortar bombs as well as rifle ammunition and explosives. Tension continued high despite the releaae of three British offi cers by their Jewish kidnarjers and a British announcement that many of the Jews arrested last weekend in a drive to curb armed violence were being freed Ihe three British officers caged In wooden crates, were dumped unharmed from a truck j in Tel Aviv last evening.
