MIDLAND IN IB New Pine Creek The two weck Baptist church Bible school closed last Satur day with the children and adults enjoying a big picnic up the can yon. The weather was not of the best and the little RoRer St. I Clair boy had the tragic mis fortune of running into a sharp stick while playing, lacerating his eyeball. The boy was taken to Klamath Falls, where physi cians have little hope of saving his eyesight, it is reported, and the lad may even lose the eye if infection Is not beaten out of the wound. Although all the children pres ent continued to romp and play to what would have otherwise HEY!! On Friday evening the children put on a program and entertained a crowd that jammed the church almost to capacity. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ross and children all motored back to Cambridge, Kan., starting week ago last Sunday. The news that Mrs. Ross' mother was quite ill prompted the journey. The Rosses also had their old home to dispose of while away and they did not know for sure just how long they would be gone. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lukl of Lake view are taking care of the Ross place during their absence. Mrs. Lukl is Ross' sister. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford King of Seattle, Wash., were here on a few days' visit with King's aunt, Mrs. Frank Alexander. The couple are ncwlyweds on their honeymoon, having been married in England last September. Mrs. Docia Craig of Alturas has been tip for a few days visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Tru man Lawson. She left last Wed nesday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin L. Faris and family spent last Sunday in Prineville visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Glenn McGrew and family. Mr. and Mrs. O. K. Johnston returned early last Sunduy morn ing from a trip buck to Penn sylvania, visiting relatives. They report everything being awful wet in the east as it rained most of the time they were back there. Their trip was cut a little short as they were called home due to Kay's father, Lee John ston's, illness. Lee is getting along fine at present, being able to get back to his garden work which he loves so well. A large bridal shower was eluded punch, Ice cream and Mother's Day. cookies. DOWNSTAIRS $295 When the bandits captured the Chinese village with its Mission School, they gave the Christian boys a chance to deny Christ and live. Forty of the boys chose death rather than deny their Lord Ho who died for them. And here in America, what does it cost to be a Christian? In the Pacific Coast states, 84 of the school children under seventeen years of age, arc not in Sunday school. To round up and teach these juveniles, is the challenge. If left to drift, they must sink still deeper into crime, lewdness, profanity, drunkenness and what not. You are saved by believing God's word, the Bible, that Christ died for your sins. Be lieve it down in your heart and then the miracle. God gives you new birth into his eternal family, himself then your Heav enly Father. First you take 1 your Btand that the blood of ! Christ washed away your guilt. ! Now, like the Chinese lads you are to take a stand. You may I not be cited to die for your faith but you are to prove Christ by a new life. A saved soul is to show Intentions. He is to witness to the new life and look to Christ for strength. I And there Is sure reward. "If any man serve Me, him will My Father honor." Jesus Christ. The Chinese boys served by giving their lives. Where do you serve? This space paid for by a Portland family. S. W, McChes ncy Rd., Portland 1, Oregon. General Flrctrlc ....
