Applications for certification service are now being taken. Certification rules for tills year are available on request. Disease tolerances for certi fied seed at the first field in spection allow seven per cent diseased plants, but not more than one per cent of the plant ing may be infected with leaf roll. Certification fees are $2 per acre. One half the fee will be refunded if a field is rejected at the first field inspection. The department of agriculture reports that domestic food use of wheat for April. May, and June has been estimated at 85 million bushels. This is almost a 50-million bushel cut from the amount used the first three months of this year and from the amount used in April, May and june oi last year. Entomologist Works On Insect Control Joe Shuh, consulting ento mologist from Gresham, Ore., has been in Klamath county for several days to work on insect control for the county experi ment station. Shuh is here to learn about insects spreading the' potato disease in order to work out control methods. Quite a number of potato growers in the basin are already ousting fields with 5 per cent DDT. Newer insecticides are going to be used in an experi mental way to dust smaller areas by the experiment station. PORTLAND, June 20 (API Oregon's hop market was char acterized by complete lack of trading in the month' ending June 15, the production and marketing administration ported today. Very little of the old cron' is unsold and most of the 1946 crop is under .contract. Progress of the new crop is reported as excellent and a bet tr than average yield is in pros pect. Aphis infestation is caus ing some concern in many hop yards and minor evidence of mildew is noted in some dis tricts, the report said.
