Blaze Blamed On Fishermen Fishermen were believed to be the cause of the forest fire which broke out in the canyon of the north fork of Sprague river yes terday afternoon. Fishing equip ment found near the area of the fire indicated the possible source of the flames which burned over two acres. The fire, which was spotted at 3 53 p. m., was brought under control at 5:30 by fighters from the Klamath protective patrol station in Bly and from Weyer haeuser camp No. 6. The canyon fire was the elev enth reported so far this year. With hot weather the forests are doing out rapidly and 11. H. Ogle of the Klamath fire pro tective association warns people entering the forests to be care ful of throwing away burning material. Radio Man Hare Carroll Han sen, news editor for Columbia Broadcasting system in the San Francisco area, and formerly with the staff of KFJI here, is visiting in Klamath Falls. He is accompanied by Mrs. Hansen. Hansen nas been in the south since 1940, and spent two and one-half years in the marine corps. He was a radio operator in the marine air corps. Camp Fire News Returns The Kev. and Mrs. S. M. Topness of the Klamath Lutheran church, have returned after a three weeks' trip through Iowa. Wisconsin and Minnesota. They attended the Lutheran church convention in Minneapolis June 11 to the 18. The proposed 194? budget for the Camp Fire program was pre sented at the regular meeting of the executive board of the Klam ath Falls council of Camp Fire girls by Mrs. K. A. Moore, chair man of the budget committee. A comparison of the 1948 and 1947 budgets was made and all items were discussed from the viewpoint of necessary revision in program direction. Serving with Mrs. Moore on this years budget committee were Mrs. John Kennedy, Dr. L. L. Truax. A. J. McDonald and ex-officio members. Mrs. B. C. Johnston, board president, and Ethyl Bremer, executive secre tary. Ed Livingston, camp chairman, reported on progress of camp plans. He announced that Sun day. June 23. members of the joint Camp Fire-Girl Scout camp committee and interested volun teers will go up to Camp Esther Applegate at Lake o' the Woods to do work preparatory to the opening of the campsite for the summer program.
