mended to congress the repeal
of appropriation! totaling

authorization totaling $174,
178,000.

to three previous rescissions
totaling $53,014,924,373 in cash
and $4,674,706,880 in contract
authorizations.
Included In the appropriations

were $1,138,258,365 (or the civil

Begun On Highway

California state highway engi
neers in charge, work was start
ed last week on construction of
the convict labor camp near
Sugar Loaf mountnin. The camp
will house the convicts who will
be engaged in reconstructing
highway 395 between New Pine
Crwk and Alturas.
When completed the new road
will eliminate the most danger
ous stretch of road on the en.
