Veteran Groups Project Basin-Wide Organization Sixteen representatives from veterans organizations, including Tulelake, Malin, Lakeview and Klamath Falls, met at the Wi nema hotel Wednesday rtight to organize a Basin Area Veterans council, It was voted by those present to complete organiza tion and Olncy Rudd, command er of Tulelake Legion Post 164, was elected chairman, Walter Thoma, Pelican Post 1383 of the VFW, vice chairman, and Carter E. Fetsch, Lakeview Legion post, secretary-treasurer. After much discussion, it was voted that the officers draft a resolution con taining the objectives of the or ganization, to be presented to each veterans' group for ratifi cation, and further that copies of the resolution be forwarded in mnffrpKcmpn and senatocs irom Oregon and California. Those present agreed that every vets club in the southern Oregon and northern California area be invited to participate and that each group be asked to elect one delegate and one alter nate, for purposes of conducting the affairs of the council. A meeting was set for July 10 at 7:30 at the Winema hotel for fi nal organization and outline of procedure. Each person present was delegated to seek approval of his individual organization, and letters, outling policy, will be sent to each club not repre sented Wednesday night. Due to the need for immediate action, the group, voting as in dividual veterans, voted to en dorse senate bill 1672, calling for retention of certain buildings at the WRA camp in Tulelake by the reclamation commission for use of homesteaders and leasors of government in that area, as homes, ' until permanent struc tures could be erected. The following men attended last night's organizational meet ings, W. L. Thompson, Dave Hoss, Les Finley, R. D. Jones, Doug Ambers. Pat Kilby, Zeno Dent, Jerry Thomas and Walt Thoma, Klamath Falls; Edwin Luicl, Carter Fetsch and B. H. Franklin, Lakeview; Walter H. Stastny, Malin; Charles A. Rose and Olney Rudd, Tulelake; Warren Walker and Robert Nor- ris, Merrill. A letter was Tead from Jake Lahr, commander of American Legion Post No. 14, in Ashland, assuring cooperation of the southern Oregon cities on the west side of the mountains. Centennial Interest Urged on Indians KLAMATH AGENCY, June 8 Interest of younger members of the Klamath Indian tribe in the forthcoming South road centen nial pageant was indicated in meeting of the tribal junior council held here Inst night. Hal Oelc and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde James addressed the meet- i ing as representatives of the cen tennial croups. Ogle urged younger members : of the tribe to conduct research among old-timers for informa tion as to early-day tribal cus toms and incidents that might be useful in planning the pag eant. The young Indians agreed to undertake the project. John Copeland is president of the group.
