M;YiT0l(:F: In 2 Hours i Prophesied The time will come when air planes from New York to Klam ath Fall! will arrive in this city "an hour before they left New York," George Hatch, district traffic manager of United Air linei, laid here last night. Hatch was the principal speaker at the annual meeting of the Klamath County chamber of commerce held in the high school auditorium. The New York-Klamath Falls time phenomenon he mentioned was explained by the speaker on tho basis of the difference be tween standard time in New York and Klamath Falls. A plane leaving New York at 4 p. mi would cross the continent in two hours, and arrive in Klamath Falls at 3 p. m. Hatch said that wasn't any Immediate prospect, but he be lieves the time will come when planes will travel that fast. Hatch said that his company Is anxious to serve Klamath Falls and is eagerly awaiting the results of the west coast airlines cases, which Include United's ap plications for Klamath service. He said that local businessmen had told him that Klamath Falls needs main line service first of all to serve its greatest needs. Houston Replaces Sisemore L. Orth Sisemore, retiring president of the chamber, pre sided at the meeting the first auditorium type of meeting at tempted by the chamber. He reviewed the year's work and introduced his successor, John Houston. Houston praised Sisemore's work as head of the chamber, and pledged an active year. In introducing Hatch, Houston said that he, Houston, had left Chi cago at 10 p. m. Monday, and arrived in Klamath Falls at 4 p. m. Tuesday, yesterday, to be here for the meeting. He made the trip on Hatch's airline. Hatch was one of a group of Portlander's here on a good-will trip. Three sacks of Klamath potatoes were given to the visi . tors, with Manager Charles Stark of the chamber In charge of this feature. Attendance at the meeting was disappointing, chamber officials said, and no further effort at au ditorium type meetings is planned. Potato Grower Sues Neighbor . In an equity suit filed with the circuit clerk, Alvin E. Ma cartney, local potato rancher, asks $1000 for damage asserted ly done to his young spud crop by overflowing water from an ir rigation ditch. Macartney names R. V. Ess, who operates an adjoining spud farm on the Keno highway, as defendant, and charges that Ess cut through a 10-foot board fence separating their property and cut a ditch from the Ess property across the property line and connected it with a ditch on Macartney's land. Water coming down Ess ditch, Macartney claims, has run into his ditch and overflowed onto his spud land, damaging the young potato plants. Macartney, represented by Paul Farrens, has asked an in junction restraining Ess from al lowing the water to flow through the ditch until the suit is decided. 1 Poe Valley The Watklns dealer was In the Valley selling his goods Monday.
