Newspaper Page TextLibrary Club" Elects Officers The last meeting of the Klamath Falls Woman' Library club for the year 1945-1946 was held in the main auditorium of the public library on Monday, May 13. After a short business meeting new officers for the coming year were elected. They are: mi-i Wuiior Hmwn president: Mrs. Charles Larkin. first vice president; Mrs. R. P. Ellingson, Young, secretary; Mrs. J. H. Schulze, treasurer. The retiring officers are Mrs. R. P. Ellingson, president, Mrs. Walter Brown, first vice president, Mrs. Glenn Kent, second vice president, Mrs. Paul Farrens, secretary, and Mrs, Loren Palmerton, treasurer. Mrs. R. P. Ellingson, Mrs. Loren Palmerton and Mrs. Walter Brown gave very interesting re- ports on the reaeraiion 01 worn- ens Clubs convention wmcn they had recently attended in Portland. Mrs. Ellingson an nounced that Mrs. Brown had won the first prize in oils for her painting "Hoses in April which was hung in the art ex hibit at the convention. Mrs. Brown's painting has also been exhibited in art shows in both New York and Portland. Following the meeting, tea was served from a beautifully appointed table decorated with pale lavender stock and sweet peas, with Mrs. R. P. Ellingson and Mrs. Walter Brown pouring. Mrs. Walter Beane was chair man of the tea. The flower exhibits were un usually lovely and prizes were awarded to the following: first, Mrs. Merton Brown of Tulelake. for an arrangement of bronze tulips in a bronze bowl; second, Mrs. L. K. Phelps, for an ar rangement of red tulips in a white bowl; third, Mrs. Loren Palmerton, for an arrangement of a single deep purple iris in a bubble bowl; fourth, Mrs. E. B. Redman, for an interesting ar rangement of deep purple iris and white columbine. Honorable mention, Mrs. C. I. Roberts, Mrs. A. G. Proctor and Mrs. L. K. Phelps. Wed Sunday Dorothy Catherine Compton, daughter of Mrs. F. B. Compton, of 332 Division, became the bride of Virgil Vernon Knight, son of Mrs. Ada Larson also of this city, in a ceremony read in the Klamath Lutheran church by the Rev. S. M. Topness, on Sunday afternoon, May 12, at 5 o'clock. The bride was given in mar riage by George Knight, bro ther of the groom. She chose for her weiUing a gown of white taffeta with a net over skirt. Her fingertip veil was caught in a crown of seed pearls. She carried a colonial bouquet of red rosebuds and gardenias. Her only attendant was Beth Chastain who wore a gown of blue taffeta and carried a bou quet of sweet peas. Best man was Orville Cun ningham. A dinner honoring the young .couple was held after the cere mony at the home of the groom's mother. Lora Madden, sister of the bridegroom, came here from San Francisco to attend the cere mony. Mr. and Mrs. Knight are at home at 120 S. Carroll. Party Over 100 persons attended the mothers and daughters party held in the Klamath Lutheran church Tuesday evening. The program opened with group singing of "Beautiful . Savior" and "Home, Sweet Home." Mrs. Estin Kiger gave a tribute to daughters and Donna Wilkes re sponded for the daughters. A group of girls presented the Peter Pan picture suite. Three numbers were given by Margar et Quick, four by Mary Anne Danielson and "The Nursery Clock" was sung by Grace Lou Henry, accompanied by Lyn nette Kohn. Helen Fisher gave the last three numbers and the story was told by Mary Ann Munsen. Mrs. S. M. Topness presented the oldest mother present, Mrs. Anne Vaagan, aged 79, with a corsage, and the youngest daugh ter, Ruth Anna Russell, one-year-old, was also given a very tiny corsage. The mother from the greatest distance was Mrs. Brown from Long Beach, Calif. Mrs. Kiger and Donna Wilkes were given corsages in apprecia tion of their part in the pro gram. Marjorie Ongman spoke upon the "Lutheran World Ac tion" program. Proceeds from the party will go to the support of this project. Refreshments were served by Mrs. B. E. Eells, Mrs. Elmer Rindal, Mrs. Ken Samson, Mrs Francis Delyea and Mrs. W. M. Sharpies. CASCADE Across from the Post Office second vice president; Mrs. Lloyd Recital Planned On Monday evening, May 20, at 7:30, Mrs. Don J. Zumwalt will present her voice and piano pupils in recital in the library auditorium. The affair is an an nual spring program and fea tures both grade school and high school students. Wat tenburg returned Thursday noon from a fix-day outing which took them as far south as Santa Cruz, California, where they at tended the annual state assem bly of Rebtkahs. Mrs. Ethel Bailey, Roseburg, president of the Oregon assembly of Re bekahs, and Mrs. Fred Cofer, an officer of the Oregon organiza tion, were with the Wattenburgs. Mrs. Wattenburg is a past pres ident of the Oregon Rebekahs. Mrs. D. Z. Powell accompan ied the party as far south as Redding where she will spend a few weeks with her sister who is seriously ill. The Wattenburgs spent Sun day in San Francisco as guests of Mr. Wattenburg s sister, Mrs. Wilbur Hudson, and they also visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Garcelon, former residents of Klamath Falls, now living near Los Gatos.
