Vows Excftangecf At Sacred Heart The chape! of Sacred Heart Catholic church was the scene of the wedding, Saturday afternoon, April 20, of Mary Jean Pcderson, daunhter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira T. Pederson of Elk Point, S. D., to George A. Kovarik, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Kovarik of Circle, Montana. The Rev. Father Raymond Beard performed the ceremony. The bride, given In marriage by her brother, John L. Peder sen, USN, wore a gown of white organza with a full-length train and finger-tip veil falling from a crown of orange blossoms. She carried a white prayer book, gift of the groom, with lav. ender orchid Phyllis Smith was the bride's only attendant. She wore a gown of pink net and carried a bou quet of pink roses. William C. Canton was best man During the ceremony, Schu bert's "Ave Maria" was played by Elaine Abbott, who also Stayed the wedding march and le recessional. After the ceremony, a recep tion was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Smith at 114 Crescent. Serving were Mrs. Anna Francis, Mrs. Malcolm Teare, Ingrid Nessitt, Mildred Teare, Mrs. Michael Lavenik, Mrs. W. J. Kessler, Mrs. Eugene Myers, Mrs. Ruth Cashin, and Mrs. Otto Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Kovarik will be at home in Klamath Falls fol lowing a wedding trip to the California coast. Luncheon Past Matrons club of the Or der of the Eastern Star met for luncheon in the ladies parlor of the Masonic temple, Friday, April 26. Yellow and white were used as the color scheme. Hostesses were Mrs. R. E. Wat tenburg, Mrs. Charlotte Martin, Mrs. W. P. McMillan, and Mrs. Charles J. Martin. Guest of the afternoon was Orion Watten burg. After a short business meet ing, conducted by Mrs. Fred Cofer, vice president, in the ab sence of Mrs. O. F. Konschot, president, cards were played. Mrs. Oscar Peyton held high score in bridge and Mrs. O. R. Holloway received the special award. Mrs. Will Wood is chairman of the visiting committee for May, and the committee for the May meeting will consist of Mrs. T. M. Moretz, Mrs. Jacob Heid, Mrs. L. F. Willits, and Mrs. Oli ver Spiker. . . Garden Club The Garden club meeting at the home of Mrs. Henry Schmor on April 19 was very interesting to members attending. Several hardy shrubs were dis cussed, among them were French pussywillows, lilacs, roses of the old fashioned type, spirea astilbe, a pink summer flowering variety that never fails; flowering quince, forsythia, snowball and beauty bush. Spring flowers observed to be in bloom here now are grape hyacinth, daffodils, violets, pan ties, violas, periwinkle hyacinth, forsythia, dwarf iris and a few late crocus. All of the above are very hardy and bloom profusely in. spite of cold and frost At the close of the meeting re freshments were served to 14 members and one guest. The next meeting will be on May 3 at the home of Mrs. Ben son Dixon; the topic will be "Early Gardens." Brown entertained the Senior circle of the Com munity Congregational church at Mrs. Whiteman's home, 2450 Orchard way, Friday afternoon, April 26. Mrs. William Revcll, presi dent, conducted the business meeting. Mrs. Victor Phillips was ine guest speaker, and chose for her topic the book "The Cross Over Africa," by Bishop Booth. Four members presented a play let with the theme, an incident in the life of an African boy. Those attending were Mrs. W. C. Little, Mrs. Elmer Mitchell, Mrs. H. S. Stone, Mrs. William Revell, Mrs. H. O. Lohrey, Mrs. William Larson, Mrs. E. G. Mathews, Mrs. L. J. Brink. Mary Eckstein, and three guests. Since the next regular meeting will fall on election day, the group decided to postpone the session until May 24.
