British Golfer To Meet Nelson NEW YORK, May 1 (AP) Richard Burton, British open champion who recently ex pressed doubt concerning Byron Nelson's low scores, has accepted an invitation to meet the Amer ican pro golf title-holder in a 36-hole match, Elmer Ward said today. Ward, sponsor of the Goodall Round Robin tourney, last week offered to pay all of Burton's ex penses plus a bonus if the Brit ish champion would come to the U. S. for a match with Nelson. Eighteen holes of the match will be played on the Winged Foot course in Westchester coun ty. New York, on Wednesday, May 29, with the last half of the duel carded for the follow ing day. New Postwar Peak For Retail Prices WASHINGTON, May 1 (AP) Average retail prices over the nation reached a new postwar peak in mid-March. In reporting this today the bureau of labor statistics noted a fractional hike in rents for the first quarter of 1946, one tenth of one per cent, and said it represented the first rent in crease since December 1944. With higher prices "for most principal items in the family budget," the bureau said, its con sumers' price index advanced 0.5 per cent between Februay 15 and March 15 to 130.2 per cent of the 1935-39 average.
