The school has hud quite a siege lately of pranksters who d o 1 1 B n t in jgssg tearing up the school and writing on the walls. vtA This even sSP began t o botlier some of tlie mem bers of the student body, so the student gtMi council is j o'Noill launching a drive to curb it if possible. To day junior and senior members of some of the speech classes gave short talks in home rooms concerning this. Speaking this way serves the dual purpose of giving the students practice as well as pulling over uiu !".. Posters have also been printed and have been put in the rooms. These stress the importance of keeping the building and cam' pus clean. KUHS Music Ranks Top The music department seems to be doing well for itself. The results from the district contest in Ashland Friday speak for themselves. The KUHS band, a cappella choir, girls nonette, the clarinet quartet an received i ratings. Dorothy Howry, Elwood Tracv. Marie Wright, Beth Chastain, Katherine Blanas re ceived a similar rating tor soio work. Rod Murray, Joanne Stacy, Oerald Fales. Mary Griffiths, Erlene Wheeler and the orches tra walked off with "2" ratings. Alvce Wells had a 2 plus rating Phillip McGillivary and Ger aldine Lewis took a "3" classi fication. The national compete tion is to be held in Eugene May 3 and 4, on the University of Oregon campus. Music and Art Combined Mr. Swansen, who has recent ly taken over in the art depart ment of Klamath high, has in stalled a very nice plan in his classes. He has brought a port able phonograph to school and now classical records are play ing softly in the background while the students go about their job of drawing. He some times points out certain pieces in which the composer has done with music what he hopes some of his students might do in art.
