Quite pleased over his ac quisition of Mickey Owen, Vern Stephens and three New York Giants' players in the past few davs, the dapper baseball mag nate declared yesterday that "two or three other" big leaguers soon will be playing in his circuit. He declined to name them but said they should be here next week. With his eight clubs already stocked with 17 former major leaguers, Pasquel indicated that he soon will bring an end to his raiding for the current season, Pasquel, who with his four brothers, dominates the loop which has no ties with organ ized baseball, said, however, that he already is angling for the 1947 season. The Mexico league presently limits each of its eight teams to eight foreign players but with the recent additions and the few more expected shortly it was be lieved that the ceiling would be raised. Besides the Americans, the circuit has many diamond luminaries from Cuba, Salvador, Panama and other Latin Ameri can countries. Pasquel didn't disclose the salaries he was going to pay Owen or the Giants' trio First Baseman Roy Zimmerman, Sec ond Baseman George Hausmann and Pitcher Sal Maglie but the ballplayers have revealed some of the terms. Branch Rickey, president of the Brooklyn Dodgers, said at Daytona Beach, Fla., that Owen wrote him he was going to get a cash bonus of $12,500 for sign ing his five-year contract. The former Giants said they are to get $5000 bonuses plus 5i3,ouo a year. One Bright Spot In Dodger Lineup DAYTONA BEACH. Fla. April 2 (P) With Mickey Owen gone to the Mexico league and six important members of the squad ailing, the only bright note in- the camp of the Brooklyn Dodgers is the flashy twirling being exhibited by Hal Gregg. Retriever Group May Be Formed A, Klamath Falls branch of the Oregon Retriever Trial club may be organized here before next duck season, Dick Morgan, Keno sportsman, said today. Charles Snell of Portland, president of the Oregon club, contacted Morgan yesterday ask ing him to see what the senti ment down here is about form ing a dog group here, and sever al local sportsmen. Including H. E. Hauger, Dr. Ralph Stearns, Vern Moore, Elmer Bakiger, Pat Montgomery, Dr. J. W. Peak and Dr. C. V. Rugh, are interested. A meeting will be called of persons interested to formulate plans for the group and probably field trials will be conducted here during duck season. The plan calls for licensed trials here and the winner's points to count toward national retriever championship. Roycroft asked the council If the city could be expected to put up the money to get Recreation field in shape for this summer, or would the Legion have to do it, and if the Legion did take over the field would it have com plete control without city inter ference and, if so, for how long?
