Mr. and Mrs, Sullivan, assisted by her moth' cr, Mrs. Sam Hartzler were hosts and there were nine tables in nlav. High scores went to Virginia Masten ana uurus ueDnarat. ne freshments were served at mid night. Gcbhardt returned from a short trip to Portland March 20. Mrs. Ray Lane and infant daughter, Harriett Rae, returned to the Lane home from Hillside hospital last Friday. The little girl was born March 14. Another Olene boy and for mer Henley student has re turned to this vicinity. He is SSgt. Mitchell Wallace (Micky) Wilson, son of Chet Wilson. Set. Wilson was visiting friends last Thursday evening. .He was over seas 20 months with the 3rd armored spearhead division of the infantry under command of the late General Maurice Rose. Wilson wears the Good Conduct ribbon, Victory ribbon, ETO, Croix de Guerre, four campaign stars and the Presidential Cita tion unit ribbon. He returned to the U. S. on March 15 and is lust 20 years old. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Eggers had a surprise visit on Saturday from his nephew. Eddie Eggers and wife. Young Eggers has just re ceived his discharge from the navy where he was in the quar termasters corps, assistant to ine navigator on a sub-chaser. His ship was lost on the typhoon off Okinawa and he had been through many exciting experi ences. . The young Eggers were on their way to their home in West Branch, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Dwencen zia arrived in Olene last week from their home in Stockton, Cam., and are now spending a short time at their Edgewood ranch' in Swan Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Whitby and daughter, Phyllis Ann, visit ed at the Marion Barnes home on Thursday evening. Also visit ing at the Barnes home is littla , Averil Gamott for tne week ot spring vacation from Mills school. Anne Stevenson and friend, Jean Wilshire. arrived at the George Stevenson home from the University of Oregon for 'spring vacation. Miss Wilshire returned to Eugene on the 26th, but Miss Stevenson will remain for the duration of the week. The A. L. Marshall family re ceived word on Friday of the sudden passing of Mrs. Kather ine Goodloe at Palo Alto, Calif. Mrs. Goodloe was the sister of the late Bert Marshall and a cousin of Mrs. Victor O'Neill of Klamath Falls and has visited here in the past. Vaccination Against Smallpox Advised PORTLAND, March 28 Portland residents were advised today to be vaccinated against smallpox if they have not done so in the past five years. Dr. Thomas . L. Meador, city health officer, said a virulent type of the disease has broken out in San Francisco and Seattle and there was no 'reason that it would necessarily skip Portland. Glen Kestcr is reported better now and is recovering from the mumps. Archie Roberts Is helping War ren overhaul his car this week. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Nork and children were callers here over the weekend from Applegate. They also took a trip south to visit with her mother near Red ding -and a brother, also in Cali fornia. They returned to Apple gate, the first of. the week to resume logging operations. Pauline Roberts was a shopper in Klamath Falls Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nork were also shoppers in Klamath Falls. Arbee and Warren Roberts and John Nork attended a movie in town Saturday. Mrs. Mary Breithaupt and daughter-in-law Marylin went to Portland Sunday for a few days. Mrs. Breithaupt just returned from Lakeview where she visited her daughter and son-in-law, Herbert Stover. Merger Of School Districts Sought McMINNVILLE, March 28 OP) Petitions are circulating here to ask an election on proposed con solidation of seven school dis tricts in this region with Mc Minnville's district 40. The merger would take in Ma sonville, Eagle Point, Durham, Oldsville. Bellevue, Chicken Coop and Wadell. Hager Mr. and Mrs. Henry Anderson returned last week from Cali fornia where they visited friends and relatives. Mrs. Florence Stcbbtns has had the flu since going to Cali fornia but is reported better now. Several residents are now tak ing The Herald and News since it is delivered in the evening of the day it is printed. This service is very much appreciated by most of the readers as they can enjoy their daily paper while relaxing from their daily labors. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dalton are having a new residence built which is another good improve ment to this community. Mr. and Mrs. Crawford are nicely settled in their new home here. Vernon Moore is cleaning up his property here on weekends. This is the former Huntley prop erty. Shirley Dalton has been help ing in the Red Cross fund drive. Museum To Honor War Vets Talked PORTLAND, March 28 () A museum to commemorate World War II veterans was pro posed here by John C. Stevens, president of the .Oregon Museum Foundation, Inc. He told a Rotary club au dience yesterday the state has teen without a musuem build ing since 1936 and that such a building could house the Oregon Historical society, the Battleship Oregon commission and the de partment of geology and miner al industry as well as exhibits of museum character, Hans Norland Auto Insurance. Phone 6060. Bonanza L. V. Boggs, in charge of Red Cross this year, announced that donations will be received at the drug store. Mr. and Mrs. Max Marvin and son Roy arc moving Into the apartment at the school which lias been vacated by Mr. nnd Mrs. Frank. Marvin is the now coach. Mr. and Mrs. Sharpe spent a day at Bly where they had din ner at the Procbstcls and also visited with other friends there.
