club colled the "Haftcr" club.
Only a select few may belong
to this organization because for
membership a person must be
able to climb a rope which is
suspended from the rafters to
the top. Once on top tho climb
er writes her name there and
she has become a member of
tho "Holler" club.
Swimming begins next Mon
duy. From now on swimming
will bo every Monday, Wednes
day and alternate Friday for
the girls. The boys will have
tho uso of tho pool on Tuesdays,
Thursdays ond the other Fri
days. A play day Is being planned
for April by the Girls' Letter
club. At that time the club will
play host to girls from Grunts
Pass, Mcdford, Lokcvlew ond
oil country schools in the orco.

years was two pounds, is going
to get a surprise package from
Hastings 10 pounds of bacon.
Mrs. Harrison had written
Butcher Karl Kauf and asked if
she could purchase the 10 pounds
of bacon one of Kauf's customers
had rejected. The customer,
who during the war would josh
ingly order 10 pounds of bacon,
recently had his order accepted
by Kauf, but he turned it down.
Kauf said ho sent the slab to
Mrs. Harrison as a gift.

new agreement between the vet
erans administration and the
Oregon physicians service will
permit veterans to get care for
service-connected ailments in
their own communities, Neil
Morfitt, state American Legion
commander, said today.
Under the plan, ex-servicemen
can go to their own physicians
in most cases, Morfitt stated.
Nearly 800 physicians and
surgeons are listed by the Ore
gon physicians service, which is
under state medical society

The deadline for filing candi
dacies for the May 17 primary
election is 5 p. m. today, with a
last-minute flood expected. Until

to be made at the primary.
Governor Earl Snell filed his

terday, as did State Labor Com
missioner W. E. Kimscy. Both

Britain Credit
OTTAWA, March 8 (P) Can
ada has granted Britain a credit
of $1,250,000,000 at the same
terms as provided in the pro
posed American-British loan,
Prime Minister W. L. MacKenzlo
King announced today.
The amount granted by Can
ada is one-third the amount of
the American loan, which still
awaits the approval of congress.
The Canadian loan also must
be approved by parliament, a
finance ministry official said,
and special legislation will be
presented early at the next ses
sion, which opens a week from
today. No important opposition
is anticipated, although there
have been indications that some
spokesmen for French-speaking
Quebec will oppose it.
