BERKELEY, Calif., March 6 OP) The University of Idaho
Vandals are scheduled to arrive today to play California's Golden
Bears for the Pacific Coast conference basketball championship
before an already sold out house tms weekend.
California, with an enrollment of about 13.000 in Berkeley,
limited its students to 6000 seats, with a chance that most of
them would get to see the title contest either Friday or Saturday.
In case neither team wins both games, a third tilt will be played
Monday.
A thousand seats were placed on public sale yesterday and
were Robbled up in 30 minutes.

with a job that boxing promot

Price professed lay-off worries

"We did manage to work out

and the rest of the week at St.

"We're back in our own gym
now and we've staged a couple
of scrimmages. Ordinarily we
wouldn't try anything like that
this late in the season, but it's
the only way we can get the
boys sharpened up after that
long lay-off."

Climaxing the grade school
basketball season, a playoff be
gins at 4:30 this afternoon in the
high school gym, putting Roose
velt against Pelican and Mills
against Riverside.
The games will be played
simultaneously, using the gym
cross courts.
Fremont, 1945 champ, is in
the top-seeded spot and drew a
bye for the first round of the
double elimination tourney.
The A league has played a
round-robin schedule of games
this season, the tilts having no
bearing on the tourney, and
Mills school emerged as the
team to beat during the playoff.
Second round games will be
held at KUHS gym tomorrow
afternoon. Tickets are 25 -cents
for the whole meet, including
the B league tourney next week.

Chalky Wright, of Los Angeles,
put together a wave of short
but powerful jabs last night to
score a fourth round technical
knockout over his fellow towns
man, George Hansford, in the
scheduled 10-round main event
of an Elks benefit boxing show.
Nearly 6000 fans saw Wright,
who scaled 136, blast and cut
the 130-pound Hansford so se
verely that the referee halted
the match.

Heavyweight Boxers Arturo Go-
doy of Chile and Lee Savold of
Paterson. N. J., got paid for
their Friday night bout which
was declared "no contest" after
eight rounds, but they were or-
d e r e d suspended indefinitely
from most rings of the country.
The suspension, imposed Mon
day by the Illinois Athletic com
mission, means they may be bar
red for life in Illinois. As Illinois
is a member of the National Box

explained the indefinite suspen

the last half of the game. In

The Pelicans bumped into the

consolation game with Ashland
Saturday night and had to play
the last three minutes with only
four men. Craig went out on
fouls right at the three-minute
mark and the rule allows no
substitution then.
Klamath placed four men on
