Maxine Seymour, Mavia Pcrcnt nnd Maxine War Appointed MERRILL Dovle Rccder of the Merrill chapter 18 of tho Women of tho Moose, recently received from the national office tho appointment of Associate Regent of the College of Regents for tho state of Oregon. Mrs. Rccder has been active In the order for a number of yoars having joined the Bond chapter in 1025. At the time the order was known as the Women of Mooschenrt Legion. She served that chapter as senior regent and post senior regent. When WOTM was organized in Merrill in 1037 she was ap pointed graduate regent and served three years in that office and flvo years as treasurer. In 1040 she was awarded the friend ship degree of the Academy of Friendship for activities in com mittee work. She received the college of regent degree in 1042 and became known throughout the state for her encouragement to tho chapter In Its relief work. In 1045 she received the ap pointment from the national of fice of associate Dean of the Academy of Friendship for Ore gon and visited nearly every chapter in the state In the in terest of gaining in membership. Merrill Program MERRILL Betty Mitchell artist In bullet, tnp and acrobatic dancing, ana a recent arrival from Son Diego, will be pre sented during me program plan ned for often house, Monday night, February 11 at which the Merrill grange will be host. All farmers and their families liv ing in this community are in vited. Betty appeared in numerous USO cantcons and before large audiences elsewhere during the wor, dancing in many of the principal cities in California. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gay lord Bcvins, of Merrill. Other numbers on the pro gram include group singing, a piano solo by Mrs. Luther Taber, an address by Phil Hitchcock of Klamath Falls, and a piano num ber by Dolly Dennis. Merrill. Refreshments will be served and the guests are asked to ar rive at 8 o'clock at the Odd Fel lows hall. Mrs. J. Leland Pope is program-chairman. Nineteen mem bers were present. Mrs. A. L. Barker of 314 Laguna will be hostess for the March meeting of the circle. Rebecca circle has changed its name to the Mary circle. It met nt the home of Mrs. Lee Mo- Bride of 407 N. 0th, and she was assisted by Mrs. Harry Johnson, nnd her daughter-in-law, Mrs. McBride Jr. There were eleven members and four guests, Mrs. Hubbard, Mrs. Brazazousky, Mrs. Riker and Mrs. McBride Jr. The first three all became members at this meeting. Mrs. E. W. Mocabce and Mrs. Earl Redman led the devotions. Miriam Smythe and Mrs. Riker were in charge of the study hour and Mrs. Mocabee, chairman, presided over the bus iness period. Attention was culled to the magazine subsrip tion contest which closes in March, and which will give a cash award of $5.00 to the circle turning in the greatest number of subscriptions to tne Metnoa- ist Woman" and "World Out look." Mrs. M. J. Noble will be the next hostess. All circles are studying "The Cross Over Africa. Married Here Gertrude W. Harlan of Colum bia, Missouri, became the bride of Eugene LaDage in a ceremony read at 8 o'clock Saturday eve ning by the Rev. Victor Phillips of the First Methodist church in the parsonage. Attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Virgil E. Veitch, and Mrs. Lula LaDage and Mrs. Phillips were also present. The couple is now at nome at znt nenn street. Mrs. LaDage served as secre tary to the state director of the larm security administration in Columbia for the past four years. Mr. LaDage is with The Herald and News. Mrs. LaDage's son, Harold Harlan, is a student at the University of Missouri at Colum bia but will be in Klamath Falls this summer. There were 16 mem bers present including Edith Van Doozer, president. Mrs. O. C. Bryan and Mrs. Charles Griffiths gave interest ing talks on the origin of super stitions, after which refresh ments were served to the group by Mrs. Rice, Velma Mitchell entertained the Friendly circle at the homa of Nona Hall, 015 East Main, on Thursday, February 14, and luncheon was served at 1 p, followed by a social afternoon. Fourteen attended and Helen Wnrdle, a former member who has returned to Klamath Falls, was reinstated Into membership. Valentines were exchanged and the birthday of Pearl Marin wai observed with gifts. The place for tho next meeting Is still undecided. Pythian Club The January meeting of the Pythian club was held at the home of Mrs. Helen Schaeffer on Friday of last week. Whitley of Pied mont heights left February 3 for Atlanta, Georgia, and Chattanoo ga, Tennessee, for an indefinite stay. On her return home she will visit in Fort Smith, Ark., her former home, and later in Oklahoma City and Callon, Mis souri. She Is making the trip for the benefit of her health. Mrs. Paul Gaster entertained her sewing club at her home, 5140 Cottage, on Wednesday, February 13, with a Valentine party, using the same motif for refreshments. Neighbors of Woodcraft held a short business meeting in the KC hall Monday evening, February 18, followed by a Valentine party to which guests were wel comed. A number of amusing games were played and Sylvia Clayton, June Tilton, Luana Smith and Ruth Hull received awards.
