J3DPCDDBTO Fighter Dies After Knockout Punch CHICAGO, Feb. 19 (AP) Willi Lee Perry, 21, negro light heavyweight, died last night after being knocked out in the second round of the scheduled five round wlndup bout of an amateur fight card. Alex Baim, president of the Madison Athletic club, spon sor of the show, said Perry fell after a hard right landed un der his heart by Howard Schwan, 23, a sailor stationed at Navy pier. The first five mentioned are fairly well-known here, although be-whlskered Dawson has visited Klamath Falls only once and Pierre LaBelle has appeared here twice. The sixth is a newcomer from down south. Basic Spanish re veals that the Mexican word "mestizo" means something like "a person of two races" ana "el" of course is the equivalent of "the." Therefore. Duttine it crudely. El Mestizo means The Half-breed. So it would appear that the grappler appearing under that name Thursday night comes from mixed parentage and is proud of the fact. The first two musclers elimi nated from the gang fight come back for three rounds in the curtain-raiser; the next two fight the semi-final of three frames and the remaining duo get together in the three-canto main event. Hiehl Eht of the card will be a rematch between Terry Francis, 175-pound Chemawa Indian school, and Lloyd Dowty, Mult nomah club. Dowty bowed to the Indian in the golden gloves finals this year. WASPS By a score of 32-26 the Wasps of the Victory cage league de- nisioned Hardys last night. The wasps were never headed and had little trouble in bringing about the win. Harvey Addington collected eight points for Hardys and Osbourne of the Wasps had eight. GROCERS VS. SEA SCOOTS Staving off a fourth-auarter rally, the Lincoln Street Gro- cers edged the Sea Scouts 25-23 last night. The Grocers were hard-pressed all the way but managed to maintain an early lead. John Patterson of the Grocers took individual scoring honors with 14 tallies while Meek gathered 12 for the Sailors. Salem Hands Tornado Season's First Loss SALEM, Feb. 19 (P) Salem high gave the Medford Tornado its first set-back of the basket ball season last night, turning the southern Oregon powerhouse aside 46-40. A spokesman of the superin tendent's office announced that Bob (Hunchy) Hoernschemeyer and George Sundheim, former University of Indiana stars, have "bilged out" due to academic deficiencies. Less than a month ago, Half back Bob Kelly erstwhile Notre Dame luminary resigned after one year as a midship man, saying he intended to en ter Cornell where Ed Mc Keever, former Notre Dame coach, is in charge of football.
