Junior Bhow Replaces Amateur Show In past years the junior class has sponsored a Junior Amateur show. This year the juniors are again giving a show on some what the name order, but it Is not an amateur show. The participants in this show have been chosen by their past per formances. The bill is already filled. Participants are now to lime their own number and to turn in the results to Bud Sel by, Junior class, president. A finnl dress rehearsal will be held about three days before the show. The show will be given on the 26th of this month and promises to be quite enter taining. The new sponsor is the Klamath Luke Moulding company, owned by Loren Polmerton. The new scoutmaster is Dick Pearson, a recently released veteran. The assistant scoutmaster is John Yakel, from Klamath Lake Moulding company. The com mitteemen for the troop are Noel Turner, Joe Bliss and Har old Hurley, all of whom are from that company. The troop is practically being born ngain during Scout week this year. Next year, during this week, we shall see how much troop 2 has grown backed by the new sponsor, the Klamath Lake Moulding company. will be honored at a banquet given by the Home Economics club on the 20th of this month. 'Civilian' Jeep On Display Here The "civilian" jeep, a peace time version of the army-navy workhorse Is on display in Klam ath Falls Thursday for the first time, according to John Selby of Selby Willys Motors, local deal ers. Selby Willys has received a carload of the jeeps and is show ing them at the company's show rooms at 401 S. 6th. Selby ex tends a cordial invitation to everyone to view the jeeps here. Death Claims Klamath Man Myron Willis McVay, 53, for the past 20 years a resident of Klamath Falls and operator with Carl Young of the McVay shop on the Keno highway, died at Hillside hospital at 12:20 a. m. today following a brief illness. Mr- McVay suffered a heart at tack at his home In Riverview Sunday and failed to rally. He was a native of Hornbrook, Calif., and was a member of Kel so Lodge No. 94, A. F. & A. M., Hillah temple of Ashland and Klamath Consistory. Ldiuew'sJ MANST0RE T3S Main St. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 1948 HERALD AND NEWS FIVE Forest Timber Cut Announced A total of 130,118,000 board feet of timber at cost of $667, 772 was cut on the Rogue River national forest during the calen dar year 1945, it was announced today by Karl L. Janouch, forest supervisor. Approximately 90, 000,000 board feet were cut in Jackson county. This was the largest cut from any national forest in the north Pacific region, Oregon and Wash ington, and although it was a slight decrease under 1944 it greatly surpassed any other pre vious year. He pointed out that 25 per cent of all national for est receipts is paid in lieu of taxes to the counties in which the national forests are located, and an additional 10 per cent is spent for road improvements within the forest.
