California Clinches Loop Crown SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 11 m The University of Cali fornia, with a championship all but tucked into its trophy room, leads the southern division of the Pacific coast conference into a basketball anti-climax this week. The Bears, who got their firm grasp on the southern crown by defeating the Trojans of South ern California, 42 to 35 and 51 to 35 last week at Berkeley, op pose Stanford's Indians, who have lost 10 and have yet to win a conference game. Knocked out of a first-place tie by their double defeat, the Trojans oppose third-place UCLA Friday and Saturday In the sea son finale. California has nine loop vic tories to one loss, Southern Cali fornia seven wins to three de feats. Only by dropping both of their games to lowly Stanford could the Bears be shaken, and then they would emerge with no less than a tie for division hon ors even if tho favored Trojans won both of their encounters with UCLA. The UCLA Bruins got their fourth conference victory at the expense of Stanford, 47 to 20, Saturday night. Their record has six losses at the hands of Cali fornia and Southern Cal. In an other Saturday gom Nevada de feated San Francisco State 00-41.
