KlamatK Girl Weds In Corvallis " A wedding of Interest here took place at 8 o'clock Saturday evening, January 19, when Murtel White, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Irving W. White of the Spring Lake district, became the bride of Donald E. Johnson at the Alpha Delta Pi sorority house on the Oregon State college campus at Corvallis. The groom is the son of Mr, and Mrs. Edward Johnson of Hibbing, Minnesota. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a black and white dressmaker suit with a small black hat and carried an orchid with her great-grandmother's Bible. Patricia Benoist, Klamath Talis student at Oregon Mate, attended the bride and wore a grey suit with a formal corsage or roses ana ireesias. The best man was Ben Davis, classmate of the groom. Just before the ceremony Jerry Kimble sang "Because" ac companied by Betty O'Connor who also played the traditional wedding processional. The candles were lighted by Mildred Cleary. All are sorority sisters of the bride. The Rev. Stevens of the First Methodist church, Corvallis, just returned from service as a chap lain, read the ceremony before the fireplace which was oanicea with tall baskets filled with a profusion of lovely spring flow ers. Bowls of spring blossoms were placed about the living room which was lighted by many white candles. A reception followed the serv ice and the bride and groom cut their cake which was served bv sorority sisters of Alpha Delta PI of which the bride is a pledge, Among those attending from Klamath Falls, in addition to the bride's parents, were Betty Rca Martin, Barbara King, Jean Masten and Chloe Bradley. From out-of-town for the wedding came the brides grandmother. Mrs. Annetta Congdon and her uncle and aunt. Mr. and Mrs, E. A. Webb-Bonne, St. Helens. and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Hulten' berg of Salem. The bride is a graduate of Klamath Union high school where she was very active in dramatics her junior and senior years. This is her first year at Oregon State. The groom met his future bride while he was stationed as a cadet at the Klam ath naval air station. He was recently released from the navy and has enrolled at Corvallis. Both will continue their studies. They are at home at 735 S. 6th, Corvallis. Mr. and Mrs. White returned the early part of the week from the valley. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. White wore a grey suit with matching acces sories and a corsage of red rose buds. The week prior to her mar riage, the bride was honored with a canned foods shower by the girls living at Delta Chi house. Later a set of dishes was presented to Muriel by the group. Sojourners Sojourners held a meeting Wednesday, January 23, in the banquet room of the Willard hotel. Mrs. F. A. Murphy, presi dent, presided over a short bus iness meeting. At this time, Mrs. Dexter El liott was introduced as a new member. Guests for the after noon were Mrs. A. P. Anderson, Mrs. John Rice, Mrs. F. A. Skin ner, Mrs. Gilbert Walters, and Mrs. Leslie R. Jenkins of Port land. Mrs. K. N. Moty was hostess and gave bridge awards to Mrs, F. A. Murphy and Mrs. C. B. Larkin. The pinochle award was given to Mrs. E. J. Howell Sojourners meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each montn at r.a in the willard. Each meeting is preceded bv a no-host luncheon at 12.30 in the hotel dining room. All new comers to Klamath Falls are urged to come. The next reg ular meeting will be February Anniversary A dinner honoring Mr. and Mrs. Tom' Jenkins on their gold en wedding anniversary was held at tneir nome, zuzb Vine, on Sunday, January 20. Centered on the table was a large, elaborately decorated an niversary cake. Attending the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins, Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Benson, their daughter and son-in-law, Jack Simms, a grand son recently returned from serv ice, and Dan Masset, a friend of the family. Two other children, Mrs. Ce celia Simms of Riverside, Calif., and Harry Jenkins, who is liv ing in Nebraska, were not pres ent. Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins were married 50 years aeo in Trov. Kansas. They moved to Klam ath Falls three years ago from rveDrasKa. 3 - Juveniles of the Neichbors of wooacrait met in tne K.U Hall Monday. January 21. at 4 d. m. In the absence of the guardian neighbor, Harriet Lavenik, past guardian neighbor, presided. Games followed the regular bus iness meeting, and Stella Dry den, senior guardian, served refreshments. s WEDNESDAY CLUB of St. Paul's Episcopal church, organized many years ago by Mrs. J. Henry Thomas, now of Berkeley, California, continues as one of the most active groups among the younger married women. Left to right, Mrs. E. B. Wedding Vows Exchanged Friday Tall white tapers and bouquets of lilies and white carnations formed the "setting for the early evening wedding, Friday, Janu ary 18, of June Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cyril V. Cook of Chiloquin, formerly of Klamath Falls, to Earl Jones, son of Mrs. Jennie Jones of Klamath Falls. The ceremony was read by Paul Skeen, elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the city library club- room. The bride chose an aqua blue suit with black accessories. She wore a large, single purple or chid at the shoulder. Her attendant was Agnes Winters, who wore a gray and brown dress with brown acces sories. Her corsage was of red roses. , Best man was Bill Jones, brother of the bridegroom. A reception was held by the immediate families of the cou ple and a group of close friends, following the 'ceremony. Mrs. ' Jones was graduated from Klamath Union high school in 1944, and is now em ployed as a secretary in the of fice of Klamath Theatres. The bridegroom was recently discharged from the army air corps and is a draftsman for Klamath Machine and Locomo tive. They are at home at the Wal nut apartments. Announcement MALIN Mr. and Mrs. Les ter B. Schreiner have an nounced the coming marriage of their only daughter, Mada line, to Raymond Gracie, MOMM 3c, USNA, on Sunday, February 3, at the Schreiner home near Malin. The groom's home is in West Canaan, N. H. At the present time he is stationed at Whidby Island, Washington. The bride-to-be attended business college in Klamath Falls and is affil iated with Wilson Abstract company. Book Clubs Both book clubs of the Klam ath Federation of Business and Professional Women will hold their regular meetings on Mon day evening, January 28. Members of the Edith Cun ning Book club will meet for dinner at the home of Elcnorn Weatherford, 2535 Hope, at 6:30, with Annis Struthcrs and Joy Rolph acting as assisting hostesses. A review of that fascinating and humorous book, "The Egg and I" by Betty Mac Donald, will be presented by Mrs. Dean H. Osborn. The Minerva Book club will meet at 7:30 o'clock with Stella Bowne at her home on High street. , Nursing Degree Nancy Gaylord of Kluinath Falls has qualified for a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at the department of nursing of the University of Oregon medical school, Portland, according to an announcement released by Hen rietta Doltz, director. Miss Gaylord's B. S. degree will qualify her for specialized opportunities in advanced nurs ing work. She took two years of pre-nursing college work at Ore State college. Nnncy Gaylord will receive her Bachelor of Science diploma at graduation exercises m June. Cookie Bake A cookie-baking party was the feature of an early Jomiary meeting of Girl Scout troop 9 of Altamont junior high school. The girls made cookies in or der to qualify for their home making, badge. They also made lapel pins and worked on plays which they are planning to pre sent. The plays are based on four of the Girl Scout laws. He is en route from Los Angeles to the cast coast where he plans to resume his studies at Princeton. Mr. and Mrs. Don West are receiving congratulations over the birth of their first son and second child, born Tuesday at Klamath Valley hospital. Both mother and child are doing nice ly.
