LAKEVIEW James A. An
drews, fish and wildlife repre
sentative from Fort Rock, today
urced the closing of the doe sea
son, scheduled to open from De
cember l to a.
The illegal slaughter of does
In the buck season just closed
has been more than enormous,
Andrews said. Unless the doe
season is closed, there will be a
severe shortage of does in the
forests.
He went on to say that the
killing of does is perhaps as
great as the take in bucks this
year, at the present time. The
does are then left to rot in the
forests.'
The fish and wildlife man is
this week attempting to contact
local sportsmen in his plea to

Grey Mask Will Return
To Local Mat Campaigns
After a week's vacation the
Grey Mask, the Hood himself,
will come back to the local ring
wars Friday night, this time to
try to show Animated Angelo
Martinelii who is top man on
this maul circuit.
Martinelii may need some
fancy convincing after his de
cision over Jack Lipscomb
last week. Even though the
victory was via disqualifies
tion, the Buckeye boy dished
out more than he took from
Lipscomb all through the
fight, so Brutal Jack's round
house to Wally Moss' chin was
not Martinelli's margin of
victory entirely. .
The much disliked counten
ances of both Brutal Jack and
his contemptible contemporary,
Rough Rufus Jones, will be ab
sent from Friday's card, though
both are expected to return as
evil as ever in the near future.
Bierman Charges
Sfuad With 'Loafing'
MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 13 (P)
Coach Bernie Bierman today
started a hurried patchwork job
on the University of Minnesota
football team following the un
explained absence of most of his
regulars from Monday's practice.
With but four days to go be
fore the team leaves to - play
Iowa Saturday at Iowa City,
Bierman worked with a total of
34 players as against the usual
60 or more.
The wholesale absenteeism
came after Bierman earlier Mon
day had issued a statement in
which, among other things, he
declared "the entire squad had
loafed all season." The harsh
words came after the Gophers
had suffered their third consecu
tive defeat a 49-0 trouncing at
the hands of Indiana here Saturday.

CHICAGO, Nov. 13 VP) Less
than a year ago the major
leagues wondered if it would be
possible to complete another
wartime baseball schedule.
They did it. Not only did they
finish out the schedule and a
sizzling world series, but in the
American league they set a new
all-time record of 5,580,420 cash
customers for the season.
Those figures were revealed
yesterday by League President
Will Harridge and reflected an
Increase of 782,262 over the 1044
mark. They exceeded by 146,-
820 the former record of 8,433,

Another red-hot race, with De

the record attendance. Detroit
headed the list of clubs In total
