BURNS Associated Press Staff Writer Oregon's first district laurels In the 1045 prep gridiron race were resting today on the heads of a powerful T-formatlon eleven: the Grant Generals of Portland. Grant outskldded Jefferson on a muddy field last night to clinch the Portland league crown with a 14-6 victory and take the title of district 4. The Generals, champion two years ago and runner-up last year, will now play off against the southern Oregon district titllst In the stato semi-finals. Both tho undefeated southern Oregon squads white-washed an other pair of schools last night: North Bend 25-0 over Marsh field; Medford 52-0 over Ash land. The two play off next weekend for the title. Medford's victory brought its season score to 452 points to opponents' 7, and ended the southern Oregon confer ence season. The other three conference contenders ended tied for second place. The once-tied squads in the subdivision marked new victories: Columbia Prep 32-0 over Seaside, Sabin of Portland 13-6 over the Gresham Gophers. Lipscomb's Poke At Moss Wins For Martinelli Wally Moss took it on the, chin again last night, this time from his enemy of long stand ing, Jack Lipscomb, got up off the deck to award the Llpscomb Martinelli fracas to Angelo while the handsome Buckeye boy was sprawled on the floor outside 'the ring. Martinelli was already one fall ahead when the end came, flooring Brutal Jack with a lightning-fast Boston crab in the first canto. It was a slugfest all the way through.' Moss bent over back wards in the second round to appease Lipscomb, who has re peatedly beefed about not get ting a square deal, calling a ser ies ox choke holds on Martinelli that wouid have gone for sim ple headlocks in any other bout. Then Lipscomb knocked An gelo out of the ring and when he tried to climb back in tied him up in the ropes. Wally was attempting to break the tieup when Lipscomb took a swing at his chin. .Rough Rufus Jones didn't have a chance in the seven-man rassle-royal at the beginning of the bouts. At least three men were on the unpopular colored boy all the time, so he was floored by a pileup and shooed out of the fights early. Buck Davidson, he of the slight mustache, and Ernie Pilu so were the next duo out and waltzed to a draw in the first organized bout. Piluso got the initial fall with a full Boston crab after a series of body- slams and Buck copped the second on a hcadlock with body press. Old Bulldog Jackson, veteran of many years in the grapple business, took two straight flops from Gorilla Poggi, using a stamping hammerlock, the only hold he ever gains a fall by, to negotiate .both. By MARTHA CASSIDY : After three weeks kegling the ten-pin lime-light is shining very brightly on that new team the Lady Bug League brought forward this year. May I intro duce your Houston's Beauty Shop quintet, which Thursday night took two games from Fluhrer's for first place in the league standing. ' The team Is new in that we have a new sponsor, Mary Bel lotti, also a very ardent bowler on the team; two new members, new to the league this year, Dorotha Koberg and Francis Moll, our old stand-by Vivian Whiting and the captain, yours truly, which bowled like she was very new at the game. Yep, it's a NEW team all right. But it was Fluhrer's own Flo Ann Eaton that took the spot light bowling 213 and 210 high games and a neat 597 series. There is no gettin round it that Flo Ann is just good. Safeway did very well by themselves in taking two from hard-hittin' Dagget's, which puts them in second place. Safeway also has a new captain this year, Agnes Geddes. Nice team work gals. Black and White came up to third place after winning two games from Hazel's Beauty Shop and Crater Hotel out bowled Coca-Cola for the count All in all it was a very strik ing evening. But I can't stop until I mention the new uni forms. Both Crater Hotel and Black & White are really hot in those brand-spanking new uni forms that are really nice. Re member December 15th dead line. Big Frank joined the Bears at guard just after he got out of the marine corps a few weeks ago and is doing so well that his coming back to Klamath Falls to coach the game is apparently- out of the question. Last Sunday's upset was the Bears' first National pro league win after five defeats, played before 45,527 fans, and according to Ramsey's letter the big guys were just as jubilant over the victory as a high school squad is after a win. Here is Ramsey's letter in part: "... I truly believe it was th. greatest gam. I'v. ever been near. You never saw such a ball club in all your life. W. gave them three touchdowns and still beat hell out of them ... I called the defensive signal and Hunk and Luke (Hunk Anderson and Luk. Johnsos, Bear coach..) told m.
