Oilex Simplifies
Polish Removing
a FTER what Martha found
1 In Currin's the other day
I . . . Retting off the old null
LI polish before putting on the
IM. now . . . isn't going to be
such a messy process.
Oilex , . . a now nail polish
remover with an oily base . . .
does tho job in a jiffy ... and
neatly ... doing away with
those smears that often get on
your clothes ... or practically
, to your elbows.
. Oilex is a non-smearing medi
cated cosmetic ... which, used
on a pad of cotton, absolutely
absorbs the nail enamel . . .
leaving the fingertips clean for
a fresh coating.
This preparation . . . which
Martha certainly recommends
,' . . comes in two-ounce bottles
i . . priced at 50 cents at . . .
Currin's for Drugs . . . the
friendly drug store ... at Ninth
and Main.
-.
Why taVs Receives
Knit Outerwear
IT took some bundling up for
shopping this week . . .
when Indian summer went
on the warpath ... but
Martha waded forth to look
over the sweater situation
.'" . . finding a big shipment
hardly out of the boxes at
Whytal's.
Both hi-nsckid pullovers and
alipons . .. . of all-wool . . .
these are tops for warmth with
skirts or suits . . . and of such
satisfying outdoor colors as
wing gray, woods brown, after
glow pink . . . yellow, aqua
and pale pink. Sizes are from
34 through 40.
Besides these new arrivals in
knitted outerwear . . . Martha
found at Whytal's a splendid
selection of nubby knits ... in
buttoned - front and slipover
styles (with long sleeves) . . .
of spirited . shades like cherry,
yellow, fuchsia, lime . . . be
sides white, black, apple green,
flesh, pale blue and beige.
There are also all-wool, long
sleeved sweaters of heavy weave
. . . in a warm spice color,
purple and coral . . . sleeveless
pull-overs of black and brown,
worn over a blouse to make
your suit jacket more comfy
. . . and another group of short
sleeved pullovers ... of finer
weave ... some with v-necks
. . . in practically the same
range of colors.
So, If you're looking for a
new sweater . . . now that chill
'winds are blowing . . . Martha
suggests that you be sure to see
At Whytal's ... in the Medical-Dental
Building . . . corner
of Ninth and Main Streets.'
Studio Improves
Hair Appearance
myOV can't make a lovely ap-
pearance with dull or
W mousy hair . . . nor should
I you even have such tresses
JL . . . when it's so simple . . .
and complimentary ... to
improve upon nature's over
sights; The Studio of Beauty person
nel can advise you about your
hair . . . and if you don't wish
to brighten it up with a com
plete tint . v . there's a sham-
Eoo tint (rinse) . . . which can
e used for glinting or slightly
tinting . . . concealing every
trace of gray ... or giving it a
gleam that -will go a long way
toward attractiveness.
While chatting with Fern
Short at the Studio this week
. . . she mentioned that the
matter of inexcusably breaking
appointments . . . which has
become such a problem . . .
causing loss and Inconvenience
to the operators . . . has been
taken up at the national con
vention of beauty shop owners
. . . with the probability reme
dies will be suggested that will
discourage this discourteous
practice.
When Fern gets more detail
ed reports from the convention
. . . Martha should have more
information on this subject. . .
From the Studio of Beauty
. . . on Whytal's mezzanine . . .
in the Medical-Dental Building.

Cal-Ore Patrons
Find Fun Aplenty
IT you haven't been down to
Cal-Ore lately . . . you'd
better get in the groove . . .
for, from what friends have
been telling , Martha ...
there's plenty of fun to be
had there every night of the
week ... except Monday, of
course, when it's dark.
There have been lots of din
ner parties ... . for the Tavern
has a prideful reputation in
serving excellent food . . . and
will be plenty more ... now
that the winter social season is
Zipping along.
Entertainment is always var
ied . . . and very danceable
music is provided by Sammy
Herman's six-piece orchestra
. . . with a few semi-classical
numbers thrown in by the pian
ist .. . for extra enjoyment.
Paul Swigart is the vocalist . . .
end those of you who have
heard Paul . . . know that he's
plenty easy to listen to.
So, the next time you get a
yearning to dine out . . . Martha
recommends Cal-Ore Tavern on
Highway 97 South . . . just
across the California line.
ItO, it isn't too early to men
tion skiing ... and it cer
y tainly isn't too early to
I start getting your snow
I sports apparel together . .
while The Town Shop still
has an adequate selection of
White Stag outdoor togs . . .
which have no peer, in Martha's
opinion.
This season ... the shop has
a new White Stag item for you
skiers ... a pullover ski shirt
... it's really a four-season
jacket ... of belted style, with
peplum skirt effect. ' One of
these would be plenty smart
looking . . . combined with a
pair of White Stag's all-wool
gabardine Downhill ski pants.
You can get these pants in
grey, tan, gunmetal or navy . . .
while the jackets . . . including
White Stag's zelan-treated waist
length type . . . are in red,
blue, navy or natural . . . thus
you can either have colorful
contrasts . . , or a practical
navy outfit.
For added comfort . . . some
of the jackets come with par
kas . . . some without. -
If you prefer a regular ski
suit . . . The Town Shop also
has these by White Stag . . .
of 100 per cent wool ... in navy
trimmed with air force blue
. . . and especially recommend
ed for spectator suits.
Don't forget mitts ... you'll
need 'em! White Stag's ski
mitts are made with poplin tops
and horsehair palms . . . with
all-wool fillers . . , and are
water-repellent.
Also, separate White Stag ski
caps are available ... in case
you lost yours last year.
